Terriffic, never knew about these delightful pieces by Orff until they were shown on the TV series, "The Good Wife". Thanks for posting.

thanks a lot for taking time to comment. I didn't realize that any of these short pieces by or were being used on a TV show. How are they being used, as a theme or something?
@philipmarq10 жыл бұрын
Only one episode (the most current one) 0f the series, "The Good Wife". Only played for less than a minute.

Everything originates from someplace else. It seems "American Beauty" soundtrack owes a lot to Orff, so does Philip Glass for some of his work.
@BartholomewSmutz9 жыл бұрын
American Beauty is a film favorite of mine but am not aware of the soundtrack having any correlation to the music of Carl Orff.Perhaps you could enlighten me?
@chrislj20059 жыл бұрын
Just a thought. Listen to the 4 short pieces, the way the xylophone has been composed and compare with American Beauty soundtrack. Just in the 4 pieces. Maybe its coincidence.C u.

@BartholomewSmutz9 жыл бұрын
+Kristal Sylvester Perhaps you can elaborate on what you mean by "all" in your comment. Of course it is accurate to say that all of modern man originated in Africa but certainly not all music has origins in Africa.
@kristalsylvester70329 жыл бұрын
Well majority of the instruments were made in Africa

Can you tell me in which book these pieces are from ? Sounds like volume 4 ? Irregular metric
@BartholomewSmutz4 жыл бұрын
As I recall they might be from different volumes and I don't remember the titles either. As you know the titles of the Schulwerk pieces can be rather lengthy and usually just describes the instruments involved. To complicate things further I uploaded this video several years ago and no longer have the source material. I will say "irregular metric" does not sound familiar. I have other Orff videos on my channel you might also enjoy. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z2OrgHyteKunmLc

It reminds me, in a way, some parts of Ma Mère l'Oye by Maurice Ravel.
do you know each of the pieces individual names? :D
@BartholomewSmutz10 жыл бұрын
I did not include the titles because they are very long and basically the titles are just describing the instruments being played. The first two are the first two selections from " Vier Stücke für Xylophon" (four pieces for xylophone).
@devoncooke40908 жыл бұрын
Could you share the title of the last piece? I remember hearing an absolutely epic version a few years ago, and I can't find it anymore. I've been searching KZbin for hours looking for it.
@BartholomewSmutz8 жыл бұрын
I'll try to find it.
@BartholomewSmutz8 жыл бұрын
My best guess is that it is one of three pieces included in "drei stücke für flöte und schlagzeug". However I'm not certain. Are you sure the piece you are looking for is the same as the one in this video? Drum pieces can sound similar.

This is a pure shot in the dark but I found this long percussion piece although it has nothing to do with Carl Orff... kzbin.info/www/bejne/fXuwnI2ve7l-hNU

Risky Business- watering the grass scene?
@BartholomewSmutz8 жыл бұрын
+B H Mch I suppose you are referring to the electronic noise Tangerine Dream contributed to the Risky Business soundtrack. I see no correlation whatsoever to these Orff pieces which were composed for and performed with traditional instruments.
@bhmch398 жыл бұрын
Unsure.T here IS a score from Tangerine dream in that film but not this particular scene. In all it may be 15 seconds that sounded very close.

Orff must have had an influence on Philip Glass, don't you think?
@BartholomewSmutz9 жыл бұрын
Perhaps but maybe you're asking the wrong guy because what music I have heard by Philip Glass is total shit in my opinion
@jksteven19 жыл бұрын
Interesting. I have found some of his later works more pleasing than his earlier works. But he is an acquired taste for certain.
@BartholomewSmutz9 жыл бұрын
+Jk Stevenson I guess my taste in classical music is more of a traditional nature. to me Philip Glass is one of those composers that in some of his works you could play it backwards and nobody would know the difference
@BartholomewSmutz9 жыл бұрын
+Jk Stevenson of course one of the things that makes classical music and music in general interesting is that everyone has their own tastes and opinions. some of my favorite composers are of course Mozart, Beethoven, Bach and several others but Brahms is very dull to me, although he is considered to be one of the great masters.
@jksteven19 жыл бұрын
+BartholomewSmutz You may be a candidate for Bruckner. Bruckner followers disliked Brahms and vice versa during their lifetime. I am tired of the Brahms symphonies having listed to them way too many times over the years but I have never tired of Bruckner.
