Brian should've been on Carl's Rockabilly Session that featured George Harrison, Eric Clapton, Ringo & Dave Edmunds. Roseanne Cash & guitarist Earl Slick were on it too. Brian's fellow Stray Caters Lee Rocker & Slim Jim Phantom were also on the special from 1985.

I love how everyone sees how insanely silly Carl's Hair Helmet is, but they all just go along with it.
@alberttatlock52374 жыл бұрын
In the mid 70s he was going for the old rocker look with an Elvis type wig, this didn't look quite so silly as the big thick Gray curly haired monstrosity that he's wearing here. When you look at him in the mid 50s with thinning hair and wonky teeth, he transformed himself into a different person, for a so called humble man he sure put a Huge amount of time, money and effort into his image, I'm guessing with only 1 big hit to live off of he had to

It would seem that Carl Perkins could afford a better toupee, or just be the first bald headed rocker.
@sjoldtimer6 жыл бұрын
His choice of hairpieces might be arguable, but I think he wore one due to some scarring from the auto accident that almost killed him (and his career) in 1957. Although he did not start using the toupee immediately after returning to the singing stage, it was not long before he did start wearing it.

1:32 Setzer let's the other guitar player take the lead instead of blasting on. Way to go Brian! Who is the other guy anyway? And btw....playing rockabilly on a budget 80's Ibanez Roadstar! Never seen some one play that thing live on stage.
@darinvierth16796 жыл бұрын
Patsik the "other guy" is the dude that wrote the song. Along with most of Elvis's his. Carl Perkins is the reason we have rock n roll.

These guys are great. I like this video. *Blue Suede Shoes* is an awesome rocking song. I just recorded it again. I sang & played bass guitar & rocked this song *really hard*. I'm getting ready for *Elvis Week* where I will do this and many other songs. You might like to come see what I do on my channel *or see me in Memphis*. It's my featured video right now. *I TCB*. Take care.

I feel sorry for Perkins, He had just the one big hit and had to trade off of it for 60 year's. in 1956 he was almost as big as Elvis, he had a number 1 million seller, Elvis also had a big hit with it. Perkins must have felt on top of the world and on the brink of superstardom, yet by the start of 1957 he was a fading star and further big hits eluded him
@cowdaddy45957 жыл бұрын
At least Johnny Cash gave him work after Luther Perkins died. But that must have been humilating for Carl.
@darinvierth16796 жыл бұрын
Professional Gamer Carl Perkins wrote a very large number of songs that other people sang. He made his money. He wrote most of Elvis's hit songs. Along with many, many hits by other people.
@wowojeejee6 жыл бұрын
The Beatles sang 3 of his songs. He was more popular than Elvis at the beginning of Elvis' career. He had more than one hit, the problem was that his recording company wanted him to sing country songs instead of rockabilly songs. His serious car accident slowed down his career.

I've always wondered why Brian wasn't included in Carl's well known Cinemax Rockabilly Session special with George Harrison, Eric Clapton, Dave Edmonds, Ringo etc...Brian was clearly the more purest rockabilly guitarist...I have a theory, He was too good, maybe Harrison and Clapton were a little intimidated?
@southerncomfort74902 жыл бұрын
I don't think so. Brian is brilliant, don't get me wrong. But you don't really intimidate the egos of Harrison and Clapton.
