Inspires to be clueless like he was? The 1LofT states that energy can't be created or destroyed, it can't happen naturally. One aspect of the 2LofT shows that the universe is winding down, usable energy is becoming less usable. It is clear creation had to be done supernaturally yet it is still denied because people are just too proud to accept that, among other things.

@@2fast2blockYours is in equal measure the funniest and the saddest comment I've read for a very long time. _"He was a stubborn man who hated reality."_ In truth, your firm assertions are but beliefs, based - unlike Sagan - on what you've read or heard others write or say. _"It is clear creation had to be done supernaturally..."_ is but a fleeting breath, a passing note, actually a belch in the face of this man who devoted his life to personally testing his own and others' beliefs for authenticity and who was completely secure in changing his mind or direction when hard evidence produced facts into which his own understanding did not after all fit. Unlike you, he was never desperate to be proved right - either by himself or others and certainly not by science. The *denial* of a supernatural creation is not something anyone can rationally do; however the *unbelief* of it is an entirely different thing and speaks to a rational, thoughtful consideration leading to an enlightened conclusion which - in the case of open minds - remains open to further evidence being offered. Nothing whatsoever to do with people being too proud to accept your tightly-held opinion. Everything to do with you being too afraid to ask questions for fear of being disloyal to your Creator Ghod (or of finding answers which might cause you to question what you accept without asking them). I know this because I shared your views, your fixed vision, your earnestness, and indeed your judgementalism for many years. It took the bravest step of my life to acknowledge that my beliefs, thrust upon me since childhood and through half my life, were - instead of setting me free - creating conflict with what I always knew deep down did not add up to anything other than much of what Sagan has laid out in this and other talks. Not that I ever came across him until recently, 25 years after I began the life-changing and enlightening process of being able to guiltlessly Ask Questions, to examine openly and honestly others' experiences, views and conclusions (and often even more refreshingly, inconclusions).

It is a privilege to have lived in the same time period Carl Sagan, he was passionate about science and sharing that passion with others. We will never see his like again. Even if there are highly intelligent people who are just as passionate about knowledge they will lack his stoic nature and objective honesty.

Indeed, consider why and how it is that there is something instead of nothing ON BALANCE. BALANCE AND completeness go hand in hand. Magnificent.
