I worked for a koi pond building company back in the 90's and we probably had one minor leaks every 5 ponds but never seen anything quite this bad ever. Definitely know who not to hire for a pond build 🤦🏻🤦🏻🤦🏻

You may want to consider investing in some solar panels for the top of that powerhouse. The electricity draw rate for that setup is going to be painful on the energy bills. Other than that.... a beautiful and memorising setup :)

Nothing in that video defames the company that built your pond. If anything it shows your patience and also shows them in good light by coming back to repair it the first two times. Let them sue you. They won't win and maybe you could counter sue them for the bad job! Shame to hear that the pond project had to end in such a bad way. Really enjoyed following it. Good luck!

It's true that mistakes happen, but this was exceptional, and it's about how a company rectify an issue that makes all the difference. And unfortunately they were reluctant to admit their faults, and when they tried to fix things, they failed to, so I lost faith. I found other tradesmen to get the leaks and fibreglass fixed, and also had the coping and mitring re-done as this was poorly done and finished. Some companies do not admit they could do better, which is very awkward as it mean they are not willing to improve. We're all learning and it's ok to make mistakes, but it's best to aim to learn from them rather than pretend the job was a good one, and remain in denial as they have done. It's right to out poor tradesmen as consumers deserve a good job.

It looks stunning Carl. I've watched the same guy fibreglass James the Koi Whisperer's pond. He looks the best in his trade; but surely the original installer should have given you a warranty? Also could you divert the trickle out to water the garden; pond water is so nutritious. Nice to see Alex's pizza oven remained; you could film a pond opening party; with Alex as head chef xxx

HI CARL....Just viewed your video re: your new Koi pond. After FF about 3-4 times ( WADR needed to speed things up a bit). I enjoyed most of the tape/with a few questions/observations!!!... Do you always go off on a fishing trip, during a major installation? After seeing your set-backs thinking; 'Maybe hire a different crew next time?' With the size of your tank maybe you can take a dip, and enjoy your fish on warmer days (in UK)? Ha ha! Glad you got things repaired after the problems. Good Luck and enjoy those CARP! Yes this is how it feels, it's a situation where they're unwilling to admit fault and take any responsibility for poor workmanship, and learn to be better tradesmen. I felt I needed to be honest to protect others, or else poor workmanship continues.

Very interesting video - I used to have a Chaghoi called Charlie ( named by my wife). I have kept koi since 1993 and there is always something that needs doing. Your pond seems great. Most of my wife's favourite fish were purchased by the dealer on a buying trip in the mid 1990's - still going strong. Can be an incredibly frustrating and rewarding hobby in equal measure Good luck with your pond and fish.

Incredible - watching your videos has inspired me to get properly into fishing again. My Grandad always took me as a kid but once I grew up I never got the opportunity to fish for carp with him. Watching your videos has made me buy my first proper carp set up & my journey has begun. i know from personal experience that in any consruction project there will be issue's, But having so many leaks and problems just isn't professional and these would be the last company i'd call if i wanted a large pond build,I always say that the more the better you can't over engineer these projects and thats what happened here the bare minimum was was done to save money ,Not good.

You can but they tend to quickly destroy them in ponds like this. They aren't able to destroy much of a ponds plant-life in the wild as there can be too much of it for them to make a dent. If I was to make a 'natural' pond at ground level with lots of plants, the plants would then stand more of a chance.

That fiberglass patch will never hold in the long run. Doing fiberglass work in a wet environment it will never cure properly. It may hold for a few months but its going to delaminate down the road. Should have dried it out and done it properly.

It was completely dried. Did you see the hole drilled in the fibreglass to draw the water away before the drain was fibreglassed properly. Expert come spend a week with me to show you what’s what.

@@GRPLiningServices Dude was sucking water out from under the fiberglass lining while he was doing the patch with a shop vac. No way was the moisture level low enough to hold a good chemical bond. There is no way that it had time to dry. If this is the way you do "expert" work you are wrong. Did it hold for now? Sure! But all you achieved was encapsulating water within the fiberglass layers that will never bond correctly. See you in "Part 4: had to drain the pond again" in a few months.

@@JS-dn2mm The drain was 100% dry, that’s the most important part, the fibreglass I bonded onto was 100% dry, ground back through the FOUR layer of flowcoat the cleaned 100% to remove dust then wiped with pure acetone. That’s a perfectly acceptable practice. Guess you’ve never done a nasty job like this before. I stayed overnight to double check my work in the morning and it was 100% watertight. Don’t tell me my business again.
