Here are my thoughts on the situation: You hit the nail right on the head about what were saying in the first half of the video, and it's frustrating, really. For a Black person, she got news and media coverage and police attention on her "disappearance" when it initially happened when that's hardly ever the case with our people for it all to be a hoax... and to think all these other Black people and people of color who really are legitimately missing and there's no media or news coverage about those people and if there is, it's not as much as Carlee Russell got. It's so incredibly frustrating. If she just wanted attention and mental health is most likely a factor in that case but can we please stop hiding behind mental health like it's an excuse for someone to not be held accountable for their actions. It's insulting, really, because like you said, people dealing with mental health know right from wrong (for the most part at least). That said, maybe remanding her to a mental facility would be an appropriate legal sanction though I wouldn't be upset if she had to do some jail time (not prison, just jail), and maybe also pay restitution to reimburse the police for their time and resources they wasted looking for her when she wasn't really missing; and I entirely agree about doing some work for organizations catering to missing people and their families.

Look up the Sherri Papini case, she was given 18 months prison time for similar case.

If all of this drama was really just about a cheating man, I question why she just didn't confront him, dump him and move on with her own life... It would have been easier and way less complicated!!

I damn near wrote an essay on my last comment, but I also wanted to add this: with her kidnapping now known to be false, do we know if her claim about finding a baby walking on the side of the highway were legitimate or not? I wouldn't be surprised if that story is also phony too.
