I was fortunate enough to see Carlene in an outdoor concert here in Upstate NY in the late 1980's. My friend and I took a big bouquet of flowers to her bus, and asked the person who answered our knock, if they would give them to her. He shocked us both when he said, "Come on in and meet her!" You could have knocked us over with a feather! She was so kind and gracious to us, and one of the great joys in my life was to meet her. Those Carter genes run straight and true then and still today....love, love, love this lady...

Saw the Carter's in a venue of a couple hundred people I( about) 1964 . They let Johny sing a couple 🙂 Love them all and it's not a competition. I prayed i would meet her and when she passed away i prayed I'd meet her daughters and now they are gone to heaven. I am running out of time.......Carlene, it's up to you, kid! Lol. Have to laugh as she does a "whoops" too like I do when trying to record my piano playing. Great job on that song, but it's a shame that a verse was left out. It's the one where it goes: Oh, he taught me to love him and promised to love. And to cherish me over all others above. How my heart is now wondering no misery can tell. He's left me no warning, no words of farewell. Still love the way she sang it though.
