Hinata remembered the moment when that guy funneled his spike into Seijoh's libero so they can receive it easily. People who speak JP can remember it instantly cause the guy said "you're not gonna hit a cross right?" when blocking Hinata's spike route and the exact same dialogue is repeated in this episode.

"So nice for no reason" is a good way to describe Haikyuu :"D No matter what you expect, it ends up being even better somehow! Shimada's moment also got a wonderful spread page in the manga that looks really good. Hinata was thinking of Matsukawa, a 3rd year from Seijou! Matsukawa funneled Hinata's hits, which is exactly what he did here.

The first years were all locked in this episode, Tsukki's weirdo quick killer, Kageyama matching up with his teammates, Hinata actually being good at his blocks, Yamaguchi's service ace. We really saw how much growth theg've undergone

The blocker Hinata was thinking of was Matsukawa from Seijoh. People tend to get him mixed up with Iwaizumi, though I think this is the 2nd time you've confused him with Kindaichi.

just to clarify the two people's names you were thinking of 1. is Shimada, Yamaguchi's teacher, and 2. is Issei Matsukawa, he's in the middle blocker for Aoba Johsai that said the "you wont hit it this way" line that Hinata was referring to.

I think in terms of production quality, this episode was the worst in the series. However, on a first view, I barely noticed. I'm glad to see Ange and Carlie didn't notice either--I don't think below average animation is always noticeable, nor important, as long as the story stays good. That being said, if they didn't notice the animation quality here after they mentioned they "knew" about it earlier in the season, I think they're in the clear for the rest of this arc! The animation never quite gets "masterful", but it certainly improves a bunch from here on out.

so, starting from this episode, I think you 2 will notice the lower quality in the animation, with a few scenes were the budget got most focused on. Which is fine, given that they did their best to proceed with the show when the pandemic was worse than what it is today.

People are so spoiled by the slower pacing of the action scenes that they don't remember how fast Kageyama's and Hinata's minus tempo actually is. Miyas weren't better, but it's already frightening as hell they copied it just like that. And when it comes to Atsumu (blonde twin) saying he can't be as accurate as Tobio, he was talking about consistency. Kageyama is a aiming-genius and has trained a bunch with Hinata, Atsumu is trying it for the first time and cannot do it over and over.
