Love Ange comment about how none of Tanaka's teammates actually thought he was lame, on the contrary they think he's awesome, never gives up, has a scary mental fortitude. It was Tanaka at that moment who thought he can't contribute to the team and who needed to get past that hurdle and he did cause he's just awesome like that, he proved everyone right and solidified what they already knew about him and his strength. One of my favorite episodes in Haikyuu for sure!

I didn't understood at first why Kanoka was heartbroken with this point, but I saw someone explaining it: Tanaka isn't just straightforward and honest with Volleyball or with his friends, but with his emotions as well. As long as he keep trying until he can do it, he actually can do it. If his heart is set with someone, he will keep trying, which means Kanoka doesn't stand a chance.

I've been waiting for this episode because of two reasons: -Obviously because Ange always stated how much he likes Tanaka, so that was a given. -But the thing that most made me excited for this is that Ange noticed Tanaka's intention to land a cross shot since the moment he saw Bokuto's one, he mentioned some times thinking that was the moment he would hit it, and that made me think "Oh you just wait for that moment..." Of course, reactions never dissapoint with you two, that's why you became two of my favorite reactors, by far!

I've been waiting for this reaction ever since and you guys did not disappoint! What I love about this episode is how it showed how straightforward and genuine Tanaka is. Kanoka saying that she really did get her heart broken was because Tanaka is such a genuine person that him telling her that he already has his heart set on another, indirectly rejecting her, was true. Tanaka's good character was shown too in the way he didn't pursue Kanoka just because he knows he has a chance because she likes him. He didn't take advantage of the situation because he does not just want a girlfriend. He actually genuinely likes Kiyoko. Ennoshita also mentioned that while Tanaka comes across strong towards Kiyoko, he respects her boundaries and will stop if Kiyoko tells him to. He's that great of a guy. He stays being one of my favorite Haikyuu!! characters. Looking forward to your reactions to the rest of the series!

As someone who has always played with players way more talented than me, I related to these slumps when you realise it, but Tanaka was way more mentally stronger than me and actually pulled himself out of it immedeately to help his team, even if he isn't number 1 in anything!

Tanakas childhood friend saying "she really had her heart broken" has big meaning here. Ever since her childhood she knows tanaka is not the type to give up, the last time when she almost confessed, tanaka said her that he loves someone else (ie kyoko) but now even when she saw tanaka at his lowest didn't give up until he achieved what he wanted, she knew that she has no chance on him and she knows that he's not the type to give up on the women he likes. Truly amazing but also heart breaking 😢

I don't even know what to say about this episode. This episode is one of my favorites in all of anime ( the only one which comes close to this is ep 22, " Goodbye, Beautiful World " from Run With The Wind ). The setup was so subtle, but the impact was a nuclear bomb. This moment goes so hard because it's like you have known a guy for ages. He is the definition of sunshine to you. You have never seen him cry, hell you think he can never cry. But one day, you find him bawling....tearing up harder than you ever have...that breaks you. You think to yourself, " This guy who I have known for ages....I.... never thought he could do this..." . Freaking Haikyuu....makes you cry all the time.... His name is Ryuunousuke Tanaka! This is an outstanding episode, we don't have to talk about that I guess haha But there are a few things worthy to mention about this. First, I just love how his depression and mental stress is portrayed here, Tanaka is spiraling towards negativity so he starts to project everything happening around him to himself. Noya went for the receive, to keep Tanaka free for offense, Tsukki set the ball to Asahi coming from the backline because he had a higher chance of scoring that way, but for Tanaka it all looked like they didn't trust him and he started to feel bad about himself. Very realistic depiction of how our brain works in times like this. And then the whole Shimizu and Kanoka part. At the end, Kanoka mentions that Kanaka has always been "honest and straightforward", so him saying that there is someone else in his heart was also honest and straightforward. That's the moment she realized he really does love someone else, and that broke her heart. Now, it's important to mention that this episode gave us 2 very important scenes for the relationship between Tanaka and Shimizu. First, we learned that if Shimizu were to say stop, Tanaka would stop his approaches towards her. That's very important because that means he's not a creep or anything. And second, when Tanaka asked her to marry him, Shimizu gave him an honest and straightforward answer, she wasn't embarrassed, shocked, disgusted or anything like that. She accepted his request, thought about it and answered without blaming him for anything. I LOVE how this episode developed the characters and how it treated them. Beautiful.

The way I've always seen it is it's because he's always been straight forward and honest like she thought right before she said she got her heart broken. So when he told her his heart was set on another that's what he meant. If she had a chance he would have told her or at least not flat out rejected her. So she knows that even though he taught her to keep trying for things she wants, this wasn't something she could apply that to.
