I purchased the rainbow cake from Kroger and it tasted like paste. Also in the mall they actually had a small cake store before covid and it was expensive and average. Nothing special. He is overrated. I enjoy the Bundt cake store more. Better cakes at Costco and the carrot cake at Sam's club is delicious. Thank you for the video!

I'm sure they make these packaged cakes in a factory (which explains the missing frosting on the side). Coming from a very proud New Jerseyan, The Cake Boss isn't really viewed of highly. He sold out from the show and his bakery in Hoboken is a straight up tourist trap now. Everything is mass-produced and stale; that's why the cakes you got don't taste as good as local places. Heck, even some grocery stores around here do better... It's a real shame, because I heard it was good in the past (pre-TLC). I'm not trying to come off as negative, I'd never have that intent, but imho anything from Carlo's these days is an overhype. Despite that, I'm genuinely glad you found value in them and enjoyed them. As always, I'm happy to watch you guys review anything you're willing to try!

I saw a vending machine of this in Canada. 10 a slice... almost bought one but read the ingredients for red velvet and it sounded very processed

I lived and worked around the corner from Carlos when the bakery was originally Schonings n then his dad brought it. The cakes are famous… their cookies, pastries, crumb cakes etc are delicious. It’s definitely dangerous for me. Lol. Thank you for an awesome review, buying the cakes and sharing with us. Enjoy the cake and a fantastic day.🍰

I’ve tried the cake slices from the machine & also visited the original bakery in Hoboken, it’s really all hyped up. The show is so fun but it absolutely doesn’t not equate to taste. These are not worth $75 for 8 slices at all.

yes, I wasn't impressed with the baked goods in the original bakery. but the vending machine slices surprised me, they were better than I thought they'd be. still $9 for a slice of cake is too much (I say that as I pay $9 for a slice of cheesecake from Cheesecake Factory and am totally fine with it)

My Walmart in VA sells them too. I had one from the Toronto airport vending machine in July and it was better than I thought it would be. but I have actually visited his original bakery in Hoboken and met him!

You know when it comes to dyes in desserts I found for myself I love the Oreos that come out at holidays like Halloween which are colored you can pick up a taste difference which I enjoy. I tell myself healthy dyes are out there and those rainbow cakes sure are pretty. Sometimes we can detect products that are winners and colorful cakes sure do sell.

These look great but have to agree it’s strange that the rainbow didn’t have all the icing, wonder if it was a packaging fail. The Black and white seems to be the best. Thanks for the review.

I would think 🤔 they would check them out before they sent them. That explains it someone down below saying they were from a factory. They do look 👀 really pretty and good.

Interesting you didn’t have the nutritional info easily available to you in the US. In Canada, the CFIA (Canadian food inspection agency) requires every product to have nutrition data on the product, in the same universal format. If you don’t, you’re in big big trouble. However, major grocery store buyers wouldn’t list your product anyway as you’d be out of compliance.

I just couldn't pay that for these. There is a bakery here that does my favorite Vienna Tortes. It's huge with layers of Bavarian Cream (custard). It' only $35 ($20 pre-2020). With the price of these though, your review can be a real help for those who might be considering this. Side note-I just ordered a box of 24 full-size payday candy bars for $12.53. They came yesterday and they are so fresh and not hard like some reviews said. I just ordered another box because they are over $1 each in stores now. Thank you for doing these cake slices for the channel.

I had this rainbow cake from a cake vending machine in Las Vegas! It was 12$, I believe. I thought the icing was horrible. It tasted like it had shortening or Crisco in it, instead of butter. I also thought it was overpriced. Even after three margaritas my friends and I threw it away because no one wanted to eat it. I don't believe there were any calories listed on the machine or packages.

Hi Tammy, I am really disappointment. I have been looking at these cake slices for a long time and I would think that how popular that bakery is that they would’ve been the best flavor ever. I feel bad that you had to spend all that money especially when they don’t sound that good thank you so much for always giving us your honest opinion you are the best channel.

Yes in Toronto they have the nutrition facts... way too overpriced for that sweetness overload in my opinion, I think the cannoli and pastries would be much better for the cost!
