Absolutely love Calabria... I left my heart there 30 years ago. My family is from Grimaldi and we did Rome, Venice, Florence etc but I loved summer vacations in our small town. It's different now cause many have left for bigger cities... but it will always hold my heart! ❤ Bella Italia 😍🇮🇹

Hi Carlo and Sarah. I'm new to your channel and I love you two already. It is so refreshing watching the videos. I normally do not comment but I had to on this one. I grew watching my aunt making sauce and cooking for us on Sundays. My aunt used to put peperoni in her sause along with meatballs, chicken, and pork. Not the typical way but she would tell me that people didn't have much money and it would stretch dinners. To this day I love peperoni. Much simpler life back then. Everyone is gone now but would still make my aunts sauce including the peperoni. Thank you Carlo and Sarah for sharing

In Italy, you're american/whatever country you were born. Here italian-americans/australians/canadians are all foreigners, no matter what their passport says. Italians are a group of people, as in Italy we have multiple cultures that are almost completely different from each other, and the only thing that i have in common with people from Sicily, Sardinia or Veneto, is the italian language.

@@Netdweller “the only thing is the Italian language” is absolutely unreasonable, even for uneducated people. If that’s would be true, you couldn’t share almost anything even with your neighbours. If you think you are just “a regional person”, you are also forgetting not only to be Italian but also that you are European (even if you don’t know why). And Italians can easily accept foreigners (as most people in the world do), if those foreigners get a role in the community. Of course, Italians are proud of what they are and what they have, but Italy is one the most ethnically mixed countries, in the whole history. That’s Italy: a lot of different people, some are so great, and some others are just ignorant, because they think to be unique, among others unique community. You’re not sharing only the language, because even the language itself brings a lot of other cultural influences. But it’s a long story.

I would be very shocked if they do. Italy may have its charms, but you can't make money like you can in the USA. Plus, the red tape in doing absolutely anything in Italy is insane. Oh, and not let's forget the taxes. You don't think they would move back this second if things we just sooo good in Italy😂. Anyway, I'm not American, but I have lived in Italy. There is a reason why so many young Italians leave Italy.

Southern Italy is the similar part and it has been part of Greece for centuries. Some Greek dialects from the Eastern Roman Empire era are still spoken there in few little villages. In the North you would find places that look like France and places that look like Austria.
