@@colethomas903 Fed 2006 was better than 2005, though imo. 92-5 with 3 GS and ATP Finals is ridiculous, even if by percentage, 2005 was better with 81-4

Loved the pointed similarities to Fed 🎾🎾🎾🎾

He's more like Fed than people realize, don't let the double handed backhand fool you, but I think he's actually slightly more talented than him, pretty much making him the most talented player of all time.

What an absolute dream Carlos is. The most dynamic player I've seen in 40+ years of watching tennis.

These compilations highlight what a magnificent player Carlos is. The way that he controls the physics (speed and direction) of rapidly moving tennis balls is astounding. It's stunning. Thanks so much Raz!

Not just serve & volley, his ability and understanding of volleying at the net at such a young age is simply unbelievable. One of many reasons why Carlitos will dominate Grass court tournaments like Wimby for many years to come. I still remember last year when people said he is shit on grass. 😂

Well people says that because he have a Little amount of match in grass before 2023 so people say that because a « good player « will struggle with Little expérience in grass but the problem is that alcaraz is not a « good player « that is what he performs so well and rapidly in that surface Its called a anomaly 🤷

Before Carlos came along, Roger was the sports only great volleyer. Sure Rafa and Novak could make some good ones by reacting as champions, but Carlos actually has all the skillsets up there.

Natural volleyer and touch player. Looks so easy. His lob might be the best ever too. I thought Nalbandian had the best lob ever or Andy Murray or Djokovic but Carlos has the best touch i seen in that young age. Both on lobs, dropshots and volleys/halfvolleys

I would love to see a Federer v Alcaraz game at their best. Alcaraz wouldn't have a chance but to see both players play the serve volley so often would be great.

Well Alcaraz is not at his prime yet and a prime fédère vs a maybe prime alcaraz Will be entertaining So this Young Alcaraz Will havé no chance probably against a prime Roger but a prime Roger vs a prime Alcaraz i dont know and you neither probably a tighten match

@@victorito07 yes it would be. Definitely on the grass and hard courts. Federer was a very good clay courter. Nowhere near as good as Nadal obviously. No-one is. It will be interesting to see which are Alcaraz's favourite surfaces. I think it will be the hard court and grass that will bring out the best in him. One thing I like about him is there are a lot of attacking shots in his game. He's not a baseline grinder.

I am a Fed fan. But with kick serves wide to Rogers backhand , Charlie will serve and volley poor Roger all day long. And there will be little Roger can do about it. Charlie is way ahead of Roger at the same age. Roger had no competition until Nadal arrived. The fact that Nadal beat Roger at Wimbledon, makes Prime Charlie the favourite.

I am a newbie, But I think this should be a natural method to score and cannot understand why most of pro not do this. when I watch the games, I always think they waste lots of energy to do those rally.

In the past it was, but modern day tennis with overall slower courts and better racket technology lead to the most optimal play to be baseline rallies, as the power and spin from the back of the court can make it harder to volley and easier to be passed. It also lead to less emphasis on practicing volleys, as you could see some top players like Medvedev or Zverev who are certainly lacking in their net play compared to their elite baseline games.

The professional game is very sophisticated. If the success stats for serve volley were positive for other players they would do it much more. Only really Carlos can do it - and even he doesn't do it very often. Maybe just one point in 10 or 20 - or against specific opponents eg against Medvedev initially.

at the club/recreational level it is an excellent strategy, and if you learn how to do it properly, i.e. time your split step on your first volley just as your opponent makes contact on the return, you will beat many “pushers” who ordinarily dominate club level tennis.
