Novak winning 12 slams in 20's and 12 in 30's just shows the complete contrast in eras. Not just having to go against Federer, Nadal but I even remember Novak had to get past Wawrinka in a 4rd, when Stan was just GOATing, when that could've easily been a tough final.

Historically yes Djokovic is the better grass court player but in the present I don’t think he’s better then current Alcaraz. Alcaraz makes way more winners then Djokovic. He showed it last year. Alcaraz winners are what made the difference in last year final. If this was hard courts (Australia, US open) I think Djokovic will be the favorite but in grass I think Alcaraz is the favorite.

Oh, I really hope you are right. If Carlos plays at his top level and if Nole plays at his top level, Carlos wins. I meant, in current situation Carlos plays higher level tennis. But thats all just on paper. Its almost 50 - 50%, perhaps 55 - 45% for Alcaraz just cuz he is much younger.

I think Novak will swing freely and not be overly defensive. He will serve and volley a lot. Hit his shots deep to pin Alacaraz to the base line. And he will win. GS # 25 and Wimbledon # 8 are more personal for Novak and not like going after calendar Grand Slam or catching up with Roger and Nadal. If he doesn't swing freely yes as you said Carlos will eat him alive.

My logic is that Djokovic plays this Wimbledon mentally free without too much pressure because he knows that Olympic Games are the tournament he must try to win somehow this time as this is his last real chance to complete Career golden slam, on the other hand it would not be the end of the world if he losses on sunday, nobody would be much surprised if Alcaraz win, Novak will play this time much better and swinging harder, last year was all the talking how he didnt lost any match in 10 years on centre court and he was in a streak of 4 Wimbledon titles in a row, it really was a big pressure to handle. Last year final it was very windy too, that is weak spot for Novak(his losses during strong wind were against Murray in Us Open 2012 and Nishikori 2014,Thiem 2019 RG, Nadal 2 times at RG and couple more) On the other hand Carlos likes much more to play without a roof and in those kind conditions so it will be very interesting final this year in this slower conditions, I think Djokovic is winning in 4 sets.

People who called Alcaraz win last year a “fluke” are just fanboys. I recently re-watch the match and Djokovic played solid the whole match but Alcaraz played beast mode level after the first set. Alcaraz served improve a lot after the first set and he make way more winners then unforced errors.

@@hype2beast119 his aces were quite bad for a while back then not just against Alcaraz, mainly due to that arm (*elbow) injury and was even refraining from his kick serve. Good returning still does not justify such an abysmal score on grass, or struggling on serve for 30 minutes in 1 game, when he was capable of many service games with 2 aces on hc in 1 game a yr before that. Alcaraz was good but lets not kid ourself with Novak in that condition when just coming off like 10 brutal matches from RG - WB at 36

Maybe the answer to who wins this match will come down to this: which of these two greats is more liable to have an off day, eh? I think that Carlos might be that likelier candidate, only because when Djoko gets "locked in" with his body and mind to achieving a goal, it's hard to imagine him losing his grip on his objective. Of course all this speculation is mere guesswork until come Sunday. May the better man win this special match: I hope it's Novak.
@issahatake90

Short answer: Alcaraz in 4 sets or Djokovic in 5 sets I also initially said that Alcaraz is the best 21-year-old I've ever seen. But when I thought about it more and asked myself whether Alcaraz would also have three Grand Slam titles if we removed Djokovic and instead let Alcaraz compete with Prime Federer and Nadal in 2007, I began to doubt that he would have three Grand Slam titles. But I definitely belive that he would have win one. There has also never been a player with such a big age difference who has beaten an opponent 16 years younger in a Grand Slam final - that would be the first time if it happen. I wanted Djokovic to play Alcaraz because the win would mean much more than if he were to beat Medvedev in the final. Alcaraz looked like he wasn't playing his best game in the tournament. But suddenly he showed this performance against Medvedev. I had the feeling that Alcaraz didn't take Medvedev seriously and played with him. Alcaraz has a champion's mentality and can retrieve his best tennis when he needs it. That's what makes Alcaraz so tough to beat. I don't know if this version of Djokovic can beat Alcaraz. In my opinion, Djokovic is not better than last year and Alcaraz looked vulnerable before his match against Medvedev. But the match against Medvedev made him look almost unbeatable. However, I think Musetti played a better match than Medvedev and that Musetti would have beaten Medvedev if the two had met. It will be very difficult, but Djokovic has a chance. My feeling is that Alcaraz will win in four sets. However, if it becomes a five-set match, I think Alcaraz will lose his first five-set match since Berrettini. As you said, Djokovic's first serve has to work and he has to play aggressively and courageously. He must not become passive. The old Djokovic could of course play his game and also act as a "goalkeeper", but I don't think today's Djokovic is physically able to keep that up. Djokovic has to put all his eggs in one basket and hope that the plan works. I think Djokovic will try to play serve-and-volley and be aggressive all the time.

I agree with your analysis. You have good arguments proving why Alcaraz will be very difficult to beat, based on technical and logical factors. The is only one argument in favour of Djokovic that you did not mention. It's his mental strenth. A famous Greek basketball coach Yannis Ioannidis once said "don't underestimate the heart of the champion". And Djokovic has proven through the years that apart for his technical skills, he is probably the mentally strongest athlete ever, not only in tennis. So, even though the 37 year old Djokovic is athletically inferior to Alcaraz, he has the heart of the champion. Does that compensate for all the athletic superiority? I don't think so but if there is one 37 years old athlete who can beat a 21 years old top class opponent that is Djokovic. Go Nole!!!

Completely agree, Novak needs to win the first 2 sets of this match to win, and I think he'll have enough to take it home from there. If Carlos wins the first set or it goes to 5 Carlos will win. Anything else, it will depend who plays at the higher level most frequently on the day. But Carlos' A game is superior to Novak's why Carlos has to be the significant favourite as the final is basically in his own hands. But I hope Novak can do it. This will very likely be his last ever Grand Slam Final appearance, and it may even be the final that decides if Novak remains the GOAT, or if Carlos surpasses Novak to be the GOAT in the future too.

I have a hunch, and it could well be wrong, that a healthy Sinner would have been a tougher task for Novak than Carlos might turn out to be. We'll see, yes. Carlos is tremendous and has turned out to be way more than a flash in the pan, but Novak has been playing this sport with a target on his back for so long that he is far more than just a great tennis player. When he's right, he's the closest thing on court (and even perhaps off it as well?) to a tennis god. Carlos will be that sort of giant one day perhaps, but only after he's played the sport with a target on his back for even a fraction of the time that Novak has been doing that.

For Djokovic to win this match he'll need a day like he had in turin atp finals (semis) where he serveboted and was playing super aggressive and not missing but alcaraz also didn't played well and i don't see novak serveboting for 5 set's because even servebots can't keep that level of serving for 5 set's...novak will need to play super aggressive without missing much can he do that for 5 sets against alcaraz i don't think so I'm going with alcaraz to win this final in 4 or 5 sets.

And, how does this alcaraz's win tomorrow remove 2023 fluke argument? 🤔 Novak is one year older at 37 years, 1 month into knee surgery no matter how small it is and coming into this tournament with a terrible form without even beating one top 10 player an entire year compare to legendary 2023 Novak? 🤔 Does make zero sense 🙃

The last time a slam match was played with such huge age difference was between Connors vs Rosewall when the former destroyed the latter 6-2, 6-2, 6-2. So the pressure is all on Alcaraz, He is the defending Champion; Novak is out of form this year and to compound his misery, he had a knee surgery only 5 weeks back and has braces on his leg. If Alcaraz is to be really recognised as a Great player then he needs to destroy Novak as Connors did to Rosewall. Even if the match goes to five sets and Novak ends up losing, it will poorly reflect on Alcaraz. 😂😂😂😂 If Novak defeats him, it will be humiliating for the kid to lose to a Grandee fit enough to be his father. 😂😂😂 Dear Fedal fans - Don't bring up Wimbledon, 2019, now. Don't count the chickens before they are hatched is a proverbial adage these analysts who hype Alcaraz must realise for good. Becker had a better record than Alcaraz at 18 winning Wimbledon back ro back. But ultimately he won only six. Tennis is a brutal and ruthless sport taking a heavy toll on your physicality. One serious injury can end a career. Alcaraz is also injury prone like Nadal and prone to cramps too on court. First let him win 10 slams and then we can debate. It is so much premature now

Carlos is not better at 21 years than big 3 . Stop comparing it. Big 3 had to play each other. Also they had to play some good players like Murray, Wawrinka, Delpitro(healthy) . Alcaraz main competitor is 37 years old Novak. Put Alcaraz in let say 2008-2009( when Novak was 21) to play prime Federer, Nadal, almost prime Murray, Wawrinka, Delpotro… he wouldn’t win no one GS, I guarantee. Do you think Alcaraz could win RG against prime Nadal or Wimbledon against prime Federer.

Fluke my arse alcaraz victory last year, they went toe to toe just novak lost the important points with uncharistic mistakes, and it came about because of the pressure he knows of who was across the net. Novak is my man, but we have him below par compared to his opponent, and what i mean his skill level matches Alcaraz or any one's, same with Alcaraz the only difference is speed. Novwk can handle power but his court coverage is nowhere near to the speed of Carlos who will run down everything, just look at the aussie alex d, who's shot making is ok but his speed keeps him in the game. Novak can win, but doesnt want long rallies, like Inter mentioned he needs to be full offence full stop. Dont believe Novak will be as nervous this year as last year. Carlos should win this one, especially after last years as his facing a novak weaker in many areas from last year form, hes got pressure this one compared to last year and Novak wont be intensely nervous for he knows the kid is younger and quicker with all the tslent in the world. If Novak wins the first set and starts the second strongly all the way i see Carlos facing a hard task as at times he gats lost and he needs his box badly, but Novak has to just go for it, no rallies over 8 to 10 shots, he's got to take away the ball from play as quick as possible otherwise like year just returning the ball deep means shit if its always around center, the kid eats that alive and Novak knows that hell come up with a game plan. If Novak wins this one, my God this one would be right up there of victorious not just for him but in all of sports, to me Carlos is a heavy favourite but i see Novak pulling this off if he wins the first set especially as he will play more freely than last year. Yeah for sure hes got pressure and all the history on the line but so has Carlos, and again novak was the favourite last year and expected by most but this year its the opposite. If Carlos doeasnt win it will be a bad loss for him and the people that hate novak as they know that this would ice even their hatred that his the greatest. An ageing old warrior the great against the yount gun ever known to the sport would echo all throughout the world Novaks legacy, this will be his best chance to add another slam of all of them, this quick surface. Lets pull it off and take this one Nole.

As a Novak fan ill put 300€ on Carlos to win that way it’s a win win situation for me , Novak loses i make 200€ , if Novak wins it was well worth losing 300€ to see Novak claim 25th gs title , equal Roger’s 8th wimbledon and take revenge for last year !!!,

Nole has better feel of the balls than Carlos at this moment. consistance wise nole is better than Carlitos who never had harder time in every tourneyment he was in after his breakout. Nole serves better this year. winless season will be extra motimation for my man Nole. Nole in 4

Not a fan of Alcaraz or Djokovic. Djokovic is winning this. I'm all about Nadal winning 20-22 RGs and 36-40 Masters on Clay by 46-48. Clay and Grass, the force does not return back up to the foot, knees and joints so lower extremities are better there, Djokovic meniscus is not in trouble on Clay and Grass. Both surfaces have longevity to its players, but Grass Slam the oldest champions is 37 and Clay Slam oldest Champion is 42. Grass is much tougher to maintain the serves are fast and faster movement. Clay is slower so much easier to maintain. Meniscus is in trouble on Hardcourts forces, goes back up to the knees and joints, Djokovic will feel it there on Hardcourts. Nadal will have most Roland Garros and US Open with this soft era, Djokovic meniscus is a gift on Hardcourts he won't be the same. Nadal will have 20-22 Roland Garros and 7-8 US Opens. Djokovic will have most Australian Opens and Wimbledons in this soft era. Djokovic will have 10 Australian Opens and 9-10 Wimbledons. Lol Young Alcaraz is playing a soft era. Can't compare him to Young Nadal. Young Nadal's harder era, no fb, Insta, Twitter, etc, more focused players, his generation isn't a joke and has less clowns, specifically 2005-2010 Outside Peak Federer. You got Young Djokovic, Murray, Del Potro, Berdych, Tsonga. Alcaraz only has Sinner in his gen. Lol. The rest are clowns Rune, etc. 1990s are jokes Tiafoe, Fritz. Omg it's unbelievable. Lol. Soft gen. This era is soft. Djokovic will keep winning Wimbledon. Nadal will keep winning RGs and US Opens his meniscus is healthy both of them, Nadal won't do those stupid spiderman FH or BH split to tear his Meniscus. Lol.
