I been thinking about that lately with Loma and Usyk going and fighting for there country... Everyone praises Ali for "standing up" in his beliefs

People say Ali wouldn't fight for his country yet never mention many in his country would not fight for him, in fact plenty did quite the opposite.

Palomino’s position on Ali isn’t all that unusual. I grew up in the military family, and although I saw Ali at the tail end of his career most of the military men-BLACK men anyway-that I was around were always in Ali’s corner. Never mind that Norton, Spinks, and Weaver were all Marines who LOVED Ali…particularly Spinks. I did meet older black veterans, who had a problem with Ali, not because of not entering the military, but because they had an issue with the name change and religious conversion. I had a great-uncle who served in the Navy during WWII and eventually retired with full honors who referred to the man as “Clay” til the day he died in the early 2000s.
