Every time I left a Santana show I felt like I was walking three feet above the ground, which is the effect Carlos wanted to achieve. I've literally listened to hundreds of hours, maybe thousands of hours, for at least forty years, of his music, Quality-wise and inspirationally mama this is the greatest thing I've seen on video for sure. it's becoming my favorite clip." Lotus" is still my favorite of all time. I've maintained a copy since 1977. Carlos loves Wayne Shorter, and Miles and Jimi,.. and is certainly thrilled to have Mr. Shorter on stage, sounding a lot like the Trane.. Carlos really shows an admiration and appreciation for all of them.

@yassveena Checkout Caravanseri, Barboleta ,Welcome and a project with Herbie Hancock and friends called Giants . Masterful Jazz and fusion music. The great thing about the Santana Band is that they’re into interpreting all musical genres. The unique thing is that they do it very well ….

I saw them at London Jazz Festival, probably around the same time. I don’t think I fully appreciated how good they were, but I was a fan of Santana since 1970 so I had to see him.

Also, there is José "Chepito" Octavio on percussion. Killer band. Never knew of it because you know I would have driven to see this lineup! Saw Patrice and Ndugu play as a duo in the 80s. They were incredible.

What a treat to see that regal line-up including Armando Peraza. I'm wondering why I can't hear Armando's congas until way into the song, and then only slightly? I see his hands but I don't hear the congas. Ditto Chepito.

For the last 50 years I love Santana music, especially Carlos' guitar playing. But what to think about him as a person I've always found confusing. He ALWAYS expresses himself in spiritual language and metaphores and portrays himself as sereen, zen and gentle. But I think he has a bit of a temper and loses his cool easily. I've seen several live video's in which he clearly gets really pissed off when something doesnt go exactly the way it should.....which will always happen when preforming live, even to the best. In this video @ 6:09 it looks like Carlos got pissed off , and @ 6:32 again.

Exactly. Carlos would like to be a jazz musician but he’s not. I saw him play with Herbie Hancock and it was like he was throwing darts at a dartboard hoping to hit a right note. You take him out of his comfort zone and he’s lost. Within the Santana Band, he’s a guitar God!

@@tonyvincent9753 As I already explained when you are admired by musicians like Shorter, Clapton, Hendrix, Metheny, Prince, McLaughlin, Corea, Watanabe, Hancock and a genius like Miles Davis, they like your music and you have shared the stage , play with all of them, so the negative criticism of others does not matter, Mr. Carlos Santana ... Thank you
@willmercury
@willmercury Жыл бұрын
Clearly, the luminaries who have praised and played with him over the last half century do not share your opinion of Santana's musicality. You are perfectly entitled to your opinion, but why contaminate others' enjoyment, and why presume that your aesthetic judgment outclasses Miles, Wayne, Herbie, Zawinul, McLaughlin or dozens of others? I've listened to your noodles; have they?
@willmercury
@willmercury Жыл бұрын
@@tonyvincent9753 He's not lost, he's himself, which is exactly what jazz greats want from him and celebrate in their collaborations. This kind of anemic aesthetic judgment, fashionable denunciationism, and prick waving always reveals the ego of the commentator, not the limitations of the artist.
