Apparently Kubrick contacted Fox studios to get the cameras for this film as they hadn't been used since the 30's and 40's and were just "gathering dust". The lenses were from Nasa and amazing. This enabled Kubrick to film the now famous candlelight scene BY CANDLELIGHT which is why this film looks so incredible and is a reference point in modern cinematic photography. Turned out though, that the lenses and the cameras were worth gazillions and the moguls wanted them back. Classic! The Chieftains too.

This is actually the 3rd movement (Largo) of the Cello Sonata no. 5 RV 40 and NOT the Cello Concerto. I own the original CD of this magnificent soundtrack and actually there is this wrong notation in the leaflet.

PS I think the mistake is due to the fact that the music in the movie is actually an orchestra rearrangement of the cello sonata but don't know who made such adaptation, I will try to investigate further on this...

It's not a wrong notation. Actually it's a concerto played by the french cellist Pierre Fournier in the sixties during the String Festival of Lucerne. Apparently there is a concerto version of the sonata (cello concerto in E minor, F 14, Nº 15), though it's easier to find recordings of the sonata than the concerto.

This is the second movement (not third) of Vivaldi's e minor cello concerto. The harmonisation is a little bit different from the cello sonata version.
