Thanks for your great comment Nancy and your nice comment on my little family here, yeah both of them are lovely people.. Yeah this market is a real good one, it's very big and always so packed with people, and always a bargain to be picked up here too, and the stage that's in the Plaza, well now Tilly has been up on there she keeps wanting to go up on there, hmm she can be a little madam if she don't get her own way, so on this occasion we just walked away with her and went back into the market lol, diffused the situation before she kicked off (smile) thanks my friend, have a good day there...

Yeah i think it's quite unusual to have a night market anywhere, and this one runs until the early hours of the morning, plus you got the Plaza here also which always has some sort of live entertainment going on, Iligan City really is a great place to be, thanks Lola...

I considered Iligan City my home for over a decade before I moved here in the USA. Thanks for the great video. The city looks very much more lively compared to when I was there. Safety was my concern before I move to Iligan, it was during the Marcos regime and I reckon it was tumultuous then as it is now. Iliganons welcomed me and made my life there enjoyable and many of my trusted and loyal friends are Muslims. I hope I can make a nostalgic trip to the city where I matured as a person and see some of my friends who are still there. Keep up the good work Carl.

Hello Willie, well i have been here for 4 years now, and in just that 4 years i have seen so many changes in Iligan City, and it has become a lot more busier, and very soon we have a massive Robinson Mall nearing completion, complete with top of the range cinema and a hotel, and i think this mall will make Iligan City even more busier and certainly much better.. Yeah i have many Muslim friends here, and it does annoy me when they quite often all get labeled the same, because people are not all the same, you get good and bad people all the over the world, and it's just a tiny few that make it bad, but believe me the majority of people here in Iligan City are fantastic people, some of the best i have ever met, many thanks for your comment my friend...

Hi Nathan, yeah there is so much food here, and plenty of rice too, and i hate that stuff lol, people here in the Philippines eat rice with everything, but back in the UK most people have potatoes all the time, which is much better than rice me thinks.. Well they stopped this night market due to being under Martial law for security reasons, but Martial law has now been lifted so maybe it might return, but also at the new market in Tambo, it's sort of becoming a night market as it seems to be staying open later and later, and we have actually been down there at 9pm and still be able to buy stuff.. Thanks for watching...

Looks busy Carl, I suppose it's a lot cooler night time that reminds me have to go to the market today , The market in pasig is huge and there are plenty of pickpockets about so you have to be aware all the time, It's more fun in the Philippines.

Hi Derek, yeah it's always busy at this night market, and it's open every Friday and Saturday night and we quite often go down there.. Yeah have heard there is always pickpockets around, but i never take much money out with me anyway, and never take my debit cards unless i am going to the cash machine which i do once a week.. Not had anyone try and pickpocket me yet, and it would not be very good for their health if i caught them lol, cheers mate, thanks for your comment, it's much appreciated...

My father, a big shot in a cargo airline took me to the Philippines in 1969. I recall being in the center of Iligan City near the Plaza and was on this same street you were on. In another era it was just "the market" sort of a bazaar and sold housewares, dry goods, canned goods, produce, prepared food, clothing and much hand made jewelry, and scarves, embroidered things crafts, rugs etc;. I was 13 years old at the time and wasn't overly impressed because the place creeped me out. People would stare at me, stroke my hair, touch me, take pictures, and I also recall many spoke english and were overly happy to talk to me in their broken english. Their favorite question to ask? 'what I was doing there.
@niccoarcadia41796 жыл бұрын
LECHON:, I had the tastiest dish in my life there and always try it when I see it on menus here in america but it was never the same. If your unaware of lechon here it is: www.myrecipes.com/recipe/lechon
@ABritInThePhilippines6 жыл бұрын
I understand what you mean when you say when you first came here the place creeped you out a bit, i was a bit unsure too, but i soon got to like it, but as a 13 year old am not so sure i would have liked it lol.. The items you mention that were for sale on the streets back then, well they still are today, there is always someone on the street corners selling something, and i like it like that, it really gives the city a nice feel to it, and lots of character too.. Yeah one still gets lots of stares here, as this area is not really an area that gets lots of white people visiting it, mainly because most countries warn people not to visit Mindanao, but it's a great island and i would say it was quite safe too.. You are so right about many speaking good English here, they still do, nearly everyone here can speak some English, and many of the youngsters can speak it as good as me.. The school my daughter is in teaches in English.. Many thanks for watching my friend...

anong oras ang open ng night market sa plaza?
@ABritInThePhilippines7 жыл бұрын
At the moment the night market is not opening as we are under Martial Law here in Mindanao, but it normally opens about 4pm i think until very late, i usually go there when it's quite late, but the market has been moved and it's nearer to the port area now and not at the Plaza anymore, which is a shame as i think it was better at the Plaza area, but it was moved because of terrorist threats, and the new area is much safer and easier for the police to ensure safety for the public, thanks for watching...
