The 50 coin at the end on the same screen as the flag was actually a 30 coin, it was the same trick of covering the top half of the coin as the beginning so that you only see the curvy bit at the bottom. Mind fills in the blank.

On the 50-coin level, the coin at the ending was a 30-coin, but the 3 was obstructed by the clear condition at the top again. I liked the way it gave you 20 more coins when you collected it, just in case you happened to check the coin counter.

@@toebrother when a big coin gets hit by a pow, it drops to the ground and eventually despawns. The setup put the 50 coin in the pipe the frame it was about to despawn, but it can't despawn in the pipe, so when it comes out it despawns

If you go frame by frame you can see his total ends at "37" before going up again to "57". So yeah, I think he was somehow given an extra 20 coins

Hey, level creator here. People in the replies are right, when you go through the clear pipe a red pow activates below the screen which triggers 20 question mark blocks and collects 20 coins. I put so much effort into that setup just for very few people to even notice it 😂oh well

@Smaj when you use a pow on a 50 coin, it falls on the ground and can then go into clear pipes. Once it falls on the ground, it disappears after a short time, but it can’t disappear while it’s in a clear pipe, so what I did is timed it so that the coin went into the clear pipe the frame before it disappears, so when it comes out of the clear pipe it instantly disappears

It is actually Mario maker that doesn't let you climb vines at the side of the screen. But it's only Mario 1 style, and you have to try climb the side touching the edge of the screen

This was a post Trollja Vu meta troll. When carl called out the checkpoint shenanigans (which were intentionally rather poorly hidden) I realized there was a solid chance they were baiting him into thinking that, and it was true. They even put a fake "hidden cp under the screen" setup right before CP2 that he didn't pick up on. What actually happened was closer to the old Defender(?) level that had duplicate CP rooms and duplicate post-CP rooms but you had to do something different to get the goal.

At 23:07, Explosive put in a sound effect when the player goes offscreen, which level creators often use to block the sound of an offscreen CP2 being touched. This time, the creator relied on the player being familiar with this trick. Although if the player isn't familiar with it and believes that the checkpoint labelled as CP2 is telling the truth, when they respawn they'll think they've been CP1'd, setting them up to fall for the twice-twice. Explosive wins either way.

The 'no climbing vines at the edge of the screen' is a MM thing... but it is a SMB1 mechanic because of the climbing having a side associated with it that juts out. Maybe other game modes have a similar issue in regards to screenscroll putting vines half offscreen, but the SMB1 thing is the most obvious 'broken screen edge' thing I know of. That and 3D World's non-climbable walls due to perspective trickery.

On the level the first coin you collected didn't complete the clear condition because it was actually a 30 coin, the clear condition hid it for the first one, the coin going back and forth in the pipe I have no idea why that one didn't count. Unless that one went into the pipe just before it was about to disappear and disappeared when it came out of the pipe.
