Magnus just tore him apart. He was in complete control the entire time, just forcing Vladimir to move how Magnus wanted.

In 9LX everyone makes Magnus look like an amateur esp Wesley So the classical WFRCC & Nepo the true top 2 in both classical & rapid 9LX. And I guess Hikaru too but of course Hikaru sides w/ Magnus so doesn't count. Also Hikaru never won a classical 9LX game. Lol. Must see Hans Vs Liren in 9LX, any time control but preferably classical. Carissa x Wesley, Bobby, Hans, Nepo, Sergey, Vlad, Tingjie / Paikidze, Alireza, Nodirbek - the axis of evil Vs Magnus, Garry, Atousa X Hikaru, Liren, Daniil, Veselin, Wenjun, Aryan Tari, Vincent Keymer - the allies of evil

@@sciencefaction2646 Yeah chess is the only game/sport where the best player is a TALENTLESS patzer who loses 3x classical games in a row to a nobody like 'w'esley 's'o. I defy you to find me like a top cs/cs2 player who had such a huge loss in valorant or something. That midgame queen-side infiltration is just incredible. It's hard even to say where it starts and ends, but roughly 5:50-7:00. Every move feels so organic, every piece is perfectly supporting and supported; Fedoseev doesn't even seem to be making any errors in this sequence but Magnus just waltzes in. Truly delightful.

As usual Magnus played incredibly well, however looking at White's game, the middle game looks like a textbook example of how to make your pieces as weak as possible without outright blundering. It seems to me the White player never believed he could win this game and played with fear looking for a draw from the start. He never took any risk or tried anything. Magnus was never pressured and gradually outplayed him.

While a5 is certainly appealing many times over, such moves dictate the tone of the battle leading to a clarified position resulting in fewer possible moves. Sometimes it’s best to keep a slightly lesser position in lieu of having more moves available later

Poor Fedoseev! It must be incredibly depressing to be a 2700 strength grandmaster and be absolutely ground to a pulp like that -- at rapid time controls no less. Magnus is inevitable -- he's like a Norwegian glacier -- slow, methodical, patient, and unstoppable when he's in form. One of the best games of 2023.

Some Sun Tzu phrases would also be great (I remember you put some in the past for sure). This game was for sure an strategic masterpiece. It was a zugzwang from the midle game untill the end. Sick stuff in engeniering this perfect chinnese wall and just make the tactical moves. Awesome game. I will not being playing that line of the Nimzo though. It, like a lot of stuff Magnus plays in fast time controls, isn't great. It isn't great for clear and objective reasons such that it makes white's side easier to play than black's (at least at sub titled level). Magnus can play this because he gains an advantage by muddying the waters with positions slightly outside of other players' wheelhouse. To do this successfully requires very high precision and consistently good decision making throughout the game. If I try to play one of Magnus' mildly dodgy lines I usually screw it up and now I'm just way worse.
