I watched a video of Carly performing this on the show and was shocked at the judges' dislike of her rendition. Carly did wonders with this song and definitely prefer this to Bonnie Tyler's.

I think Carly was a whole lot of people's "second favorite", because I read that a lot. I never really bought Cook as a "rocker dude" and what I hear in his voice is more ballad singer or musical-theater-major-type vocals. To my ear, he has almost no growl or grit in his voice. I thought Cook played what I call the "Idol game" quite well, he recalls Taylor Hicks in that respect: Inferior vocalist wins popularity contest. Cook was better early on he seemed to fade after the hospitalization.

I like this version WAY much more than her live one. I think she BY FAR has the best voice in the competition, but I highly doubt she'll win. I hope she at least gets to top 3. She vocally overshadows the rest of the people left, but she doesn't have the backup of a gazillion teenage girls like David A. or the creativity of David C. Her image isn't helping either. Almost everyone I know acknowledges that she has the best voice, but they have reservations on her image. Sad, but true.

FireOnIce916450, just do a KZbin search for: "Bonnie Tyler Eclipse" and listen for yourself. Carly definitely made it her own. Carly could cover a whole lot of songs and do them better than the original artists, her voice is awesome. I think her goal post-Idol is to make some original music.

Jason is a joke that the producers are playing on America. Like I tell all of the Jason fans spamming Carly's videos here: You Buy Jason's CD and I'll Buy Carly's CD and we both will be happy. Simon had it right about five weeks ago, Jason is like some dude playing a guitar at a bus station waiting for somebody to take pity and liberate a quarter from their pocket.
