I was never on Tik Tok. But got on to xiaohongshu when I hear about it. I am Canadian, studying Chinese for months and took Kung Fu when younger. Oh and I made san bei ji a month ago and my Chinese room mates said it was good. I have a Zojirushi rice cooker. Asian store 10 minute walk away. Very handy.

It is quite easy to make as all the correct ingredients are available in Chinatown or on Amazon. I suggest this YT channel Spice N’ Pans which is a Singapore channel (not China) that guides you to cook Chinese dishes simply.

Wow! Once Americans learn to cook authentic Chinese dishes and realize just how delicious the actual flavors are, many Chinese restaurants in America serving inauthentic dishes might struggle to stay in business. Kudos to American fans of Chinese cuisine-keep learning to cook as many authentic dishes as possible and cut back on visiting those local spots that don't measure up. That's been my approach, and it's been fantastic!

Steam egg dish can be cook with mixed pork, or diced shrimps, or shredded chicken meat. Most Chinese dishes are meant to eat with steam rice. Enjoy

The Americans have lived in a system for generations where parents are working multiple jobs and don't have time to pass on life skills to their children. They've also been brainwashed by food advertisers, and many live in food deserts where they simply don't have access to real food. Cooking is essentially an act of rebellion for them, and watching them do this in real time has made me cry with pride on a few occasions.

There are a lot of stories of Chinese men abroad taking wives from all over (ie. the continent of Africa, India, Russia, Ukraine, Italy, southeast Asia, etc). They're really sweet. The stories often include the struggles of inter-racial marriage, passports/citizenships, leaving family, etc.

There are some people learning recipes from rednote and sharing them through other platforms claiming they are Japanese or Korean dishes! There was one white dude with sizable followers shared the ji dan geng as Japanese dish! The Chinese welcomed them, and this is how they repay Chinese people's kindness? Shame on those aholes!🤬🤬🤬

did he call it "ji dan geng"? cuz the Japanese do have a very similar dish, called "chawanmushi". They tend to be steamed in tea cups, and that's exactly what its name means. The Japanese tend to steam them with a few pieces of meat/seafood/veggie/mushrooms dropped into the egg, whereas the Chinese tend to steam the egg by itself, then pour on soy sauce, add scallions/shredded meats/other toppings/other seasonings on top of the egg after steaming. Not a hard and fast rule tho, they ARE neighbouring countries after all.

@catsidhe181 No, the French guy was definitely doing the ji Dan geng, also every region in China does the same dish tad differently, I can guarantee u that u can find a version or some variants look just like the "japanese dish", after all the japanese even got sushi from China, many people didn't even know that, was the Chinese or South East Asia countries invented sushi is still debatable but certainly not japan, though the japanese claim that the modern sushi was their invention that has no ingredients to do with the original.

wow, the rice wine part, so easy to make but i don't understand why everyone just use rice, we can also add red or black dates into it, it makes a fruity fragrant rice wine that is reddish or blackish in color and tastes out of this world and it is cheap to make. warning, alcohol content can be quite high.
