My dad's Jewish mother was born in Russia and her family had come to America to escape Pogroms. When my DNA always came out as 17% Jewish, I had thought that it was from my dad's side of the family. Imagine my surprise when I later discovered that my Jewish DNA had come from my supposed Southern WASP mother's side who were genetically part Sephardic. While my paternal grandmother's family were definitely practicing Jews and suffered for it, they had been Russian converts with Russian, not Jewish DNA.

the first Jews came to New Amsterdam in 1653 from Recife, Brazil and were originally from Portugal and Spain. They were forced converts pretending to be Christians. The Dutch took Recife over and the Conversos came out and practiced Judaism openly. Unfortunately the Portuguese took the colony back and the Jews had to flee as they were now subject to the Inquisition as Heretics. 23 sailed to New Amsterdam and were refused entry by Governor Peter Stuyvesant. He wouldn't allow them to land because they had no means of support. Stuyvesant was also a bigot. The Jews wrote to the Dutch West India Company asking for permission. Jewish stockholders said they would support them and they were allowed in. They were Sephardim. Famous descendants are Admiral Uriah Philips Levi famous for convincing the US Navy to end corporal punishment. (The Philips were prominent in Charleston. SC.) Emma Lazarus who wrote the poem. The Great Colossus, the poem fastened to the Statue Of Liberty. Columnist Shana Alexander is one of her descendants. These Jews intermarried heavily with non-Jews and most of their descendants are not Jewish today.

Christianity likes to claim the Jewish believers in Yeshua as Christians because they claim that "The Church," of which majority is now gentile, started in Acts 2. With close examination of the New Testament with this translation biases, one would find that they were all Jewish, remained Jewish and were considered a sect of Judaism called " The Way." They were first called "Christians" as an insult in Antioch. They were also shocked that HaShem was allowing gentiles into their fold.

This is a very complex event and difficult to discuss, and I am not an expert. What I know is the following. When the decree of expulsion was issued in 1492 by Isabel and Fernando the Jewish people were given a choice: either convert to Christianity or sell your properties and assets and leave. This was a decision of the crown not of the Inquisition. According to what I have read, a group of them converted and became "conversos", another group left. Of the ones that left, some went to Portugal, some others to northern Africa and lands controlled by the Ottoman empire. In the latter group, some did not feel welcomed in the lands that they chose as exile and went back to Spain. They could do so, and buy their properties back, for the same price as they have sold them, but, of course, again, the condition was that they had to convert to Christianity. So, if we are talking from an ethnic point of view, the descendants of the Jewish Roman communities of Hispania are still there. As practicing Jews, I do not think there were any allowed until the xix century. I'm pretty sure, but do not quote me. Now, for some long time, anybody that proves that is a descendent of the spelled Jewish families, gets Spanish citizenship. Some have done. So, now, descendants of those Jewish Roman communities that remained faithful can call Sepharad, home. I hope that this has been helpful.

Neither. Europeans are descendants of Japheth, not Shem. So they’re Japhethites, not Semites. Jewish people are from the lineage of Madai-Japheth-Noah. Or Tubal-Japheth-Noah. Or Ashkenaz-Gomer-Japheth-Noah. They’re descendants of Turkic nomads (Turks/Göktürks) who originated from the Turkic Khaganate which collapsed in 603 CE. They settled in the Russian steppes and eventually made it to Mesopotamia as merchants, lived in enclaves near the entrance to the Silk Road, and assimilated with Indo-Iranians. Their religion was originally called Rabbinism, their language Yiddish. Then they spread out to Iberia (Sephardi) and Eastern Europe (Ashkenazi). Israelites, on the other hand are from the lineage of Jacob-Isaac-Abram/Abraham-Terah-Nahor-Serug-Reu-Peleg-Eber-Salah-Arphaxad-Shem-Noah. Being a Jew of ancient Judah is a bloodline, a race, an ethnic tribe. It’s not a religion, i.e. Judaism, but a genetic inheritance. One doesn’t acquire it by being born into the faith (Rabbinism/Judaism) or simply converting to it. Genesis 10: 2-5 KJV “1 Now these are the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth: and unto them were sons born after the flood. 2 The sons of JAPHETH; Gomer, and Magog, and MADAI, and Javan, and Tubal, and Meshech, and Tiras. 3 And the sons of Gomer: ASHKENAZ, and Riphath, and Togarmah. 4 And the sons of Javan; Elishah, and Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim. 5 By these were the isles of the GENTILES divided in their lands; every one after his tongue, after their families, in their nations.”

There is no religion called 'Rabbanism'. There is rabbinic Judaism, which had begun during the Babylonian exile, after the destruction of the first Temple and reached maturity during the Diaspora after the destruction of the second Temple. The compilation of the Masoretic text Bible can be attributed to rabbinic Judaism. Moreover the holy, ancient language of both Ashkenazim and Sephardim is Hebrew, which is a Semitic language. It might be noted that their language is not Parsian (Persian), which is the ancient Aryan language, or an archaic form of the Slavic, Hellenic or Celtic languages, which would indicate Japhetic roots. To the contrary, Hebrew comes from the Middle East - Mesopotamia and western Iran to be exact, though it may be even older. Hebrew is believed to be the mother of Aramaic, which in turn, is the mother of Arabic. Hebrew is an incredibly ancient Semitic language. Thus, anyone who's Jewish, who isn't a convert, has Semitic roots
@pamelaflavell24713 күн бұрын
@ You’re right, there were no world religions at that time. No discussion of the conversion of the Khazars?
@Biblestoriesunveiled-q1t11 күн бұрын
@@mikewark6408 Thanks for watching. "The topic of the Khazars has been a point of debate in historical and genetic discussions, particularly regarding their alleged connection to Ashkenazi Jews. However, extensive genetic studies have shown that Ashkenazi Jews share a significant genetic link to Middle Eastern populations, as well as European admixture, which aligns with historical records of their origins. While the Khazar hypothesis is an interesting theory, it is not strongly supported by genetic evidence and falls outside the scope of this discussion, which is focused on comparing the genetic differences between Ashkenazi and Sephardic Jews based on current scientific research. If you'd like, we can explore the history of the Khazars in a separate discussion, as it's a fascinating topic in its own right."

Most Ashkenazi Jews are descended from the Khazars. They are both converts / imposters.
@mikewark640811 күн бұрын
@@Biblestoriesunveiled-q1t The Khazars MAY have their partial origin in Israelite and other Middle Eastern tribes that escaped into Europe from the areas the Assyrians had planted them. It is well known that they deported conquered populations. These things will always be debated because there is so little historical evidence to work from. Genetics may prove a Middle eastern origin, but this in itself proves little. All I'm saying is the issue is quite complex. The Ashkenazi are likely a very mixed group. Again, Middle eastern origin doesn't necessarily prove Hebrew origin. Anyway, what does it matter? When someone converts to Judaism they become Jews. The Jews have never been a race, strictly speaking. They are a religion connected with an ancient people. Even in ancient times---if one reads the Hebrew Scriptures carefully---the Jewish people included people from various other Middle Eastern tribes/nations. This is one of the reasons for Ezra's purges. Etc.

True biblical hebrews were not wyt people. Ashkenazi jews are converts. According to the Bible, the people who call themselves Jews, Jewish and Israeli today are not the original people, revelation 2:9 and 3:9 refer to them as the synagogues of Satan. In the Bible also, in the book of Genesis 10:3 they are referred to as part of the descendants of Ashkenazi, who’s a descendant of Japheth. You’ve been lied to that the pale people living in Middle East today are the biblical Israelites, this is a completely false white supremacist narrative with their reputation of claiming other people’s identities. Most modern Jews descend from converts, whose native lands were scattered across the Middle East and Eastern Europe. But every Israeli schoolchild is taught a fabricated story that the Jewish people arose in the Land of Israel and was exiled from its homeland during the period of the Roman rule, in 70 CE, and the nation remained loyal to its land, to which it began to return after two millennia of exile. In 1948, there were between 758,000 and 881,000 Jews living in communities throughout the Arab world. Today, there are fewer than 8,600. In some Arab states, such as Libya, which was about 3% Jewish, the Jewish community no longer exists; in other Arab countries, only a few dozen to a few hundred Jews remain. The vast majority of the Sephardi and Mizrahi Jews who lived in the Mahgreb and elsewhere in the Middle East were expelled from those countries after the establishment of Israel in 1948. How does these different styles effect their interpretation of Political thought, and law?
@Biblestoriesunveiled-q1t8 күн бұрын
@@royhodge7077 Thanks for the question: Approach to Law and Governance Ashkenazi Jews: Influenced by the more rigid legal structures of Europe, Ashkenazi Jewish legal thought tends to prioritize strict interpretations of Jewish law, often codifying texts like the Shulchan Aruch with additional commentary (e.g., Mishnah Berurah). Politically, this sometimes aligns with Western-style governance, democratic ideals, and debates about the role of religion in state affairs (e.g., in Israel, the tension between ultra-Orthodox parties and secularism often reflects Ashkenazi divisions). Sephardic Jews: Their legal tradition often reflects the influence of Islamic jurisprudence, which emphasized adaptability and consultation. Sephardic rabbis historically prioritized practical solutions over theoretical debate. Politically, Sephardic communities often support more traditional, community-based governance. In Israel, for instance, Sephardic political parties like Shas emphasize religious values tied to cultural traditions.

I heard that Ashkenazi Jews came from a lost country called Kazaria and were related to the tribe of Dan, so converted t o Judaism in the 1st millenium. They migrated to Germany and were called Ashkenazi Jews as a result.
