@@timmystool3349 2009, 2013, and 2014 were Melo's top 5 seasons. The biggest thing that held Melo back was he chose the wrong franchise to go to with the Knicks. Issues with D'antoni, largely him not wanting Melo to play his post up isolated game, held him and the team back some in those first few years. By the time Mike Woodson became coach and things started improving, Melo had only like 2 seasons before knee problems took him out of his prime early at the age of barely 31. At his best Melo was as dominant a force as there was in the league outside of Lebron and KD during that time. Unlike his contemporaries though, he didn't manage his career to ensure he got the most ideal talent around him in order to win and he ultimately wasted his best years in a dysfunctional organization.

People bought the hype only for Melo's numbers to not support it and he got bodied in the second round to Indiana. 08 season where Kobe won MVP Carmelo was leading the MVP polling for the first couple of months before him and the Nuggets got into that brawl with the Knicks and he got suspended for like 10 games or something like that. He came back and continued to ball out but I always wonder if he didn’t fight would he have been able to get that MVP. The next season with Chauncey Billups he took the Lakers to game 7 the WCF. Sooooo this is shitty analysis in terms of LeBron vs Melo. BY EVERYONE. Both Denver and Cleveland had 17-65 records the szn b4 drafting in '03. Both teams had essentially the same roster from the previous season. Albeit Denver's additions were slightly better and stayed healthier, they did play in the much tougher conference. I think considering all factors if you're not going to go Co-ROY you'd have to give it to Melo. There's no scenario where LeBron should win that outright. You guys have got to do a better job of researching and actually being prepared for these topics. The banter is great but its not helping teach shit abt basketball if all you're gonna do is reference nostalgia and personal recollection that isn't always accurate.

@@NextMJ2 I won't bother going comparing Carmelo to LeBron, Kobe and Tim Duncan because it's self-explanatory why they are better than him. I'll start with Dwight Howard. So far all you brought up was acclimatize stats which doesn't prove why he's better. You say Carmelo revitalize a forgotten franchise but so did Dwight Howard. The Orlando Magic has been irrelevant ever since Shaq left and Dwight took that team to the finals. Something Melo has never done. Now yes, Melo is a better scorer than Dwight but that's it. Dwight averaged 21 points, 13 rebounds and 2 assist while playing elite defense. He was DPOTY 3 times. Melo has never been good at defense, he's not a great playmaker or passer and never been a good leader which is why his most successful seasons is when he had an elite PG. In Denver he didn't do anything without Chancey Billups and in New York he needed Jason Kidd. Now for Kevin Durant. Kevin Durant has always been a better and more efficient scorer than Melo. What KD did for OKC alone is better than what Melo did his entire career in Denver and New York. I don't need to mention him being the key factor for Golden State winning 2 championships. Now he does struggle in Brooklyn but that's mainly not because of him. Kyrie doesn't play, James Harden was hurt and left and Nash isn't a good coach but he did carry that Nets team on his back to the ECF despite those drawbacks. Chris Paul is basically self-explanatory. He's made every team he's been on better.

Soooo that’s 8 players I’d take over Carmelo in that season where he made his 1 conference finals appearance… that 09 season all his stats accross the board were down that year 23-7-3 rounding up on 44-37-79 splits…. A big part of the reason they won more games was because of Chauncey billups…. But during his best stat years the nuggets or the knicks were getting bounced early

How can you name CP3 when mentioning the playoff and 2009? Melo destroyed the Hornets in the playoffs in 2009. That series included the worst loss in playoff history (58 point loss). Melo average 24, 6 and 5 in that series 47% from the field and 46 % from 3. CP averaged 16, 4 and 10, 41% from the field and 31% from 3. Melo was clearly the better player in the series. Then in 2013 he was dragging the Knicks against the Pacers while injured. He literally had no help at all. His second best player was JR Smith who was having one of the worst series of his career. He was a top 5 player in 2013 for sure.
