Carmelo Anthony, as much as people dog on him all the time is a master of shooting timings, knowing he can shoot whenever he wants, whether a defender is there or not, which is why he was so difficult to guard. His off-beat and off-off-beat shooting in his early NBA days made him unpredictable. It's not talked about, but I believe he's the best we've ever seen at shot timing and shot rhythm deception. He's also got some of the most efficient and precise footwork of NBA players in the post, he never needs to dribble a lot to find space or an opening, and (back in the day) he sealed defenders with only his first step. First, lulls them to sleep and tests how they're gaurding him with the over-the-head and multiple off rhythm ball fakes/jabs, sometimes just does the over-the-head thing halfway and shoots to catch em off gaurd. Sometimes does the over-the-head thing halfway or 1/3 way and drives. Timing and rhythm deception can make up for a lack of speed, though he always had an explosive and long first step. And you have to make the move deliberate or else it won't work. Once you decide, decide and commit.

Probably the best player ive ever seen in the midpost, super dangerous because he had the mid range as well as an arsenal of moves. Every time u play him close he had the quickness to go by u. U sag off and he was pullin up. And he can just straight post u up from there as well

This is basketball art. Entertainment. The reason why I watch. In this day and age of analytics, this type of creative artistic play would be considered inefficient. Difficult long 2's. Unfortunately, many coaches sway players away from this. But the way I grew up, triple threat position to jump shot, dribble shot or getting to the hoop was fundamentally sound. And most importantly, really nice to watch. NBA coaches are forgetting that fans want to see the beauty of the game too. Also shoutout to Melo for lacing em up just about each night. He never did this load management. If NY or DEN was in town he was gonnna play.

They need to change the rules on being able to draw the foul by throwing yourself into a defender while shooting.

Stanley Li jab step and pivoting is melos best friend it can look like a travel a lot but usually it isn't
@superfrikkzzlatan4918 жыл бұрын
DiscoStarfish 99 the move itself isn't traveling but the way Melo does it is a clear travel. When he goes left he moves his pivot foot every time.
@alexkillmonger83556 жыл бұрын
Late to this video but I think its traveling too. Unless you consider he is releasing the ball for a dribble at same time of moving his left foot

2019 Horns Offense is perfect for Carmelo Anthony, he should not be your 1st Pass though. 😀😀😀 You just make him your 2nd or even 3rd Pass = Elbow-to-Elbow. Philadelphia 76ers Coach Larry Brown said he had to "Trick Allen Iverson Sometimes." Act like you forgot to pass to Iverson.
