I was sad hearing his retirement. He said last year when he didn't play, "I'm not retired unless I say it." He still had some skills left in his tank so I thought I guess he will play next season if some team out there wants him. Now that he announced it officially, it was like, it came out of nowhere. Never liked Carmelo... I thought that he wasn't worth paying attention to, but I also felt the same about Lebron. Since I was a kid in the 2000's I really liked Wade, Iverson, Hamilton, and TMac (when he was on the magic), oh and I thought Kobe was gonna surpass MJ. My opinion now... Carmelo is not a real superstar. He's just not. You have to make your teammates better around you. Not just with your playing but maybe having some influence on them to motivate them and stuff like that. Kobe was never a leader who speaks a lot but he led by example and just working the hardest. And we all saw last year when people were talkin he doesn't share the ball enough and dude went Magic mode for 3 games in a row. Finshed with the most assist per game for a shooting guard. Melo will never do such thing. He just can't. Is not his fault he's just an elite scorer. That's his DNA as a basketball player. I feel bad for Melo for having so much pressure on him to lead his team to the finals because that's what expected from him. He can't do it as a best player on the team. Now,if he was the second best player on the team then he would have a great chance to win a tittle. Put Carmelo next to another superstar and you would get great results. But he is not a supertar when he's the best player on the team. Never went past the first round in his career but only once with Allen Iverson and at that time A.I. still had same Answer in him if you know what I mean.
