Que maravilha se ver Carmen Cavallaro, q nem nos filme se via, na década de 50. Só se ouvia no fundo musical. Tenho DVD do filme Melodia Imortal, q é a vida do pianista, Eddy Duchin. Tenho 76 anos. Obrigada!

Thanks!! Do you know the year it was taped? I watched a rerun of the E. Duchin Story around 1966 & wanted a career playing piano. As an adult with the career, I found out that Cavallaro actually played for the movie. LOL -it never occurred to me that the reason for the movie was because Duchin died tragically, before his time. I played in Japan for 5 years and the music is extremely popular under the name: To Love Again.

As I writes before, it was in the year 1988 (The last time he come to Japan!) That was just his last public appearance in Japan!!! The year later, he passed away in Columbus (Ohio). Personally I was supposed to meet him in Japan in the year 1999 around the month of Oktober, when he was supposed to come in Japan again, to play his marvelous music with his special style and magic touch!!! But unfortunately he passed away!!!

@@italoaccordion Thanks for your indulgence. I posted that 6 years ago. Today I see you answered the "when" question also 6 years ago. I came back your page today to get the link to share in the comments under Liberace's version. There are so many who are talking about Tico Tico and Ethel Smith and no one has mentioned Mr Cavallaro!! xoxo ✌️🌹

Un pianista de extraordinaria técnica, sin duda alguna. Yo siempre lo admiré. Pero creo que la versión de Tico-Tico que hizo Roger Williams es superior en todo.

I bet alot of the be-bop artists like Charlie Parker and Dizzzy were influenced by Him and Duchin, but were afraid to admit it. I see a similarity in styles.

Juan - Thanks so much for the most hilarious entry of the month. Yes indeed, they were all shaking in their boots to admit they copied Duchin. You can hear it in Dizzy's Salt Peanuts--those two Duchin notes, C and G, in the next to last bar. And of course Charlie listened to nothing else. You have a magnificent ear and will go far.
