This is accurate. I was just reading book 3 and it got way worse. I definitely stopped reading it after the scene in book 3.

Have you read haunting/hunting Adeline yet? That duet got me in to DR.😅

Indeed I have, the first part. Working on a video for it now 😁 Though I can't say that I liked it... 😅 But then again, different strokes, for different folks 😉

@@juditareads I found it slightly healing in the second book! It was definitely a tough read for me and I found myself putting it down several times because it was just… a LOT for me at least. Can’t wait for your video!!

I can easily understand how this book can be a lot for someone starting with DR. Instead of dipping your toes you dived in, head first! 😁 I personally have read quite a lot of DR (Penelope Douglas being my go to author) and while I believe that dark places in HA were daaark, I just found the overall story to be repetitive and the quality of the writing a little too fan fiction like. I guess I just expected more, because of all the hype 🤔 🤷‍♀️ And while I do have plenty of guilty pleasure reads that I love despite seeing all their weaknesses, HA just wasn't for me 😶 Welcome to DR though, hope you'll continue checking it out! 😊

You definitely have to read Pack Darling by Lola Rock before forming an opinion about reverse harem, i also didnt like this trope because i had never read a well written book of this genre before. However, be aware that the intention of this book is to explore the protagonist's relationship with the boys and the backstory is to be superficial, the intention is not to create a complex and elaborate plot like in fantasy books.

Fair enough! Thanks for the recommendation, I will definitely give it a try 😉 I'd say currently my biggest issue with reverse harem is not even the lack of plot (which I do admit, I find annoying), but the fact that I haven't yet read a reverse harem novel where the characters would feel like actual people, with complex feelings and personalities. As I said though, I will definitely give a try to your suggestion! ☺️

@@juditareads This is exactly one of the reasons why I liked the author's writing so much, in my opinion she knew how to develop each one's personality very well, their role in the group and in a way that didn't get boring at any time. It has become one of my favorite and i read a lot books 🤣
