i love these old school vids...much more entertaining and relatable than watching dane vids...;) also interesting to see the old school boats being paddled from the front like i learned to and explains why i seem so out of place in the newer flater stern world of boats

Many a happy moment spent paddling five falls in the mid 80s. I paddled a perception dancer. Things have changed since then.

Among other things, the logs that made Right Crack benign flushed out and now it's a boat eating death trap!

@ a few people I know died in five Falls. The first time I ran corkscrew, I ended up washing through the hole under hydroelectric rock. Everyone thought I was dead, but I popped out the other side none the worse for the wear. We would run middle crack either by holding our paddles vertically or throwing them through the crack too friends downstream. Then we’d paddle back up in and do pop-ups in the drop.

I have had the fortune not to be there when someone died. But I was there for Rod Baird's near drowning in Hydro and I thought he was dead. This was made from my footage: kzbin.info/www/bejne/b4rMhWipfLuVn7s

Nice shot of the jawbone pothole. I know a guy who got vertically splatted into that thing in a prijon hurricane and got stuck. It was a bit distressing when he peeled out into the rapid, but didn't make it to the bottom. Then no one could find him. He was just chilling in his boat waiting for rescue. He could hear people running up and down the bank, but they could not hear him over the rapid noise.

I was about to say I know a guy that told that same story, and then remembered you went by Brad back in the boater days 😂

Was that a Dagger Ocoee that you were paddling, Milt? I thought that you preferred the longer canoes, and that shorter boats like that were more Oci-One Kanubi's territory?

I paddled an Ocoee when I thought I might be bored. And, as you can see from this video, I wasn't bored that day! People consider the Ocoee to be long nowadays.
