I love the increase in performance that this old work horse is producing, I look forward every week for updates on the trolvo. As for the Torana, reuse the old V6 out of the VN as that would be a great option also keeping it all Holden as I will enjoy seeing the modern engine( well compared to the Old Torana) can produce as the Torana is such a light car compared to the VN so power to weight distribution would only enhance the car. Great work on Trolvo brother

495 killerwasps are nothing to sneeze at. Well done Scotty. I'm hoping you learned a lesson about closing the plug gap over feeding it more spark. Can't wait for the next video. What is more exciting is that the power is constant, not a one off dyno peak figure, that is a genuine 495.
@STREETMACHINETV Жыл бұрын
Sometimes you have to do it
@DodgyBrothersEngineering Жыл бұрын
@@STREETMACHINETV true, but it should only be considered a temporary fix. If you are closing the gap to stop the boost blowing it out, that is a sure sign you need a stronger spark. As the dyno told you in spades, without enough spark you can't light all of the fuel, and the power suffers.

I'd be looking at the accessory belt alignment / tensioner strength, flat belts don't usually flip over. I'd even be inclined to make a tensioner limiter in case it is bouncing at high RPM / vibration.
@STREETMACHINETV Жыл бұрын
I probably tagged the limiter in the burnout and it bounced, it was an old belt. We just did seven passes the other day and the belt stayed on just fine. It was just a one time thing.

Not sure about your comment re: lining up cams doesn't guarantee crank is lined up. Unless it had jumped teeth, it absolutely guarantees the crank lines up. I think you may have been thinking about the opposite scenario. Lining the crank up can have the cams in 1 of 2 positions, but lining up cams always has crank at the right spot.

By going from a 3 bar internal map sensor to an external 5 bar map sensor you have changed the resolution of the sensor map. So while you would think PSI is PSI, it is possible there might be a slight tuning discrepancy. Curious as to why you didn't go for aa 4 bar to get better accuracy.

Quick Question Scotty, mate does it matter how you put the harmonic balancer back on, meaning is there any areas which are of a concern, especially if the crank does not have a keyway on it, also if the car is a stock one as well, not a heavy duty or race type balancer etc?
@STREETMACHINETV Жыл бұрын
I haven't had much to do with non keyway balancers. But I'd just put some antisieze on it, and tighten to spec
@7071t6 Жыл бұрын
@@STREETMACHINETV thanks just wondering that's all, especially aftermarket balancers & does it matter how they go on, i.e is there a spot on the balancer which needs to be pointing to TDC or it does not matter?
@martingidaszewski7342 Жыл бұрын

You are so lucky Scotty, Ive been chasing a surging/misfire problem for months, spent over a thousand replacing gaskets, sensors, throttle body, TPS, IACV, and hiring an auto electrician to check wiring. Turns out to be the same issue with crank trigger, it all started with a clutch start at 40kms that threw the drivebelt off too. I am doing the same job this weekend provided golebys send the new billet trigger wheel in time. Kudos to Knight Family Motorsport for putting me in the right direction. Also mine has a vvti crank trigger wheel (36-2), apparently it provides more timing accuracy. Question, did you have to time the engine again and change the trigger offset angle in the ecu afterwards?

Nope we just fitted the new tigger wheel/pulley, put the new belt on (obviously making sure everything was lined up) and hit the key
