I'm in zone 3 in 🇨🇦 and sweet williams are pretty hardy here and will come back the next year.

I have a couple of carnation plants that I recently moved from a pot back to the raised bed where I started them... I had no idea they were biennial when I planted them (would have been helpful).. I almost cut them back because they weren't flowering!! 🤦🏾😅 It was a mixed seed packet, so now I have one very good sized coral colored plant and a pretty deep purple one! 😁

I liked how you talked about both the dianthus and carnations. I had been confused for a little while about how they are different. This was very helpful. Thank you.

Wow, that's such a gorgeous coral color! I bought red rockin' dianthus at my local Kroger this year. Little 4" pots.They're growing beautifully. The tag says perennial so I hope to see them back next year.

I love growing heirloom carnations!! They are so fragrant! I’m also growing a pink Chinese forget me not that I got from Floret that I’m really liking in arrangements.

Beautiful! I grew carnations last fall here in NW & they survived this years historical snow event! Only problem is the leaves are getting eaten by something! I put slug repellent, still happening though. Do you have any idea who could be eating them? I don’t have any bunnies or deer coming to my garden.

Girl, you have such a green thumb. These are so pretty. I bought a couple of 6 packs of the Annual Dianthus last year. I dead headed them once last year. They were pretty. They came back this year on their own. I didn't know they would come back a second year. I dead headed them this year and they are making a second flush along with my Panseys! I cut them back too and are doing great. The problem with cutting back Pansey is you have to be brave and cut them back when they are the prettiest 🤧. Love your videos!!

Should have watched this 2 months ago. It's April and my plants have just sprouted. If they can handle the heat of summer they should bloom next year?

Your dianthus are so perfect. I have some in a raised bed. Do you think they will be ok if put them in the landscape in clay soil? I think I'm going to cut them so I won't worry with them going to seed.

Hi thanks for sharing.. .can you please let me know how to get the seeds from the flowers? Thanks again
@juanaouano34142 жыл бұрын
Wow! Thanks for those very important tips you shared. I have a question which I hope you will reply. I lived in Tifton Georgia and I failed many times in growing Carnation because I usually sow the seeds on Spring. My question is what is the best time for me to start sowing the seeds? Can carnation survived seeing winter even it is planted outside? Please answer me.

I'm going to try growing carnations in zone 6a this coming year and am hoping to get a good start. There is a grower, Zoe Woodward, in the UK (basically zone 9a) who suggests that they are very particular about germinating temperatures :66-72F, but like cooler temperatures to grow/branch.
@anneharrington7951 Жыл бұрын
I have grown carnations from seeds for 5 years. It was tough. First 2 years they looked straggly and not vigorous. Next year, i winter sowed more, and moved to the opposite side of the garden. They grew fantastic all summer, but just greenery. I put about 10 tiny winter sowed clumps, about 6 inches apart. They grew into a huge clump, stayed green all winter in Ohio, and bloomed big time the next summer.

Could you do a series on how to harvest and condition various types of cut flowers for best vase life? I don’t feel like there’s that much info for this stuff online.

I always plant dianthus in full sun, so I'm not sure how well they would grow in part sun. I buy my seeds from the GeoSeed catalog. Thank you for watching! 🌱🌱🌱

How can I find seeds to produce large, long, stemmed full carnations?
@itsmewende3 жыл бұрын
Good to know about the carnations, I grew those from seed and they aren't looking that great. I'm in zone 7 probably b, still can't get use to that, would be much easier if it s or n. Hopefully they'll do something before Sept. And again the most beautiful bouquet at the end, really like how you've been showing them laying out then show the bouquet at the end.

I don’t know whether my conditions have been too wet or too dry but I’m in England so it just never gets that hot n dry here🤔🤷🏻♀️ I don’t know, really really annoying so if anybody can point me in the right direction I’ll be very greteful🙏🏼 thank you
