We just cruised on the Carnival Breeze. The food was very hit or miss all over the ship. We ate in the MDR every evening and sail days for brunch. Soups and salads were usually the best. Emeril Selects were usually a good choice. The strip loin was a cheap, tough under seasoned disaster. The biggest disappointment of the whole menu was the french fries. FRENCH FRIES! Nasty things weren't edible, and I am by no means a FF snob. Breakfast was just okay. In generally everything we ate was under seasoned and under salted. Good luck with the clumped up salt shakers. Sea air is tough on salt. Go find the special food spots on the ship. Those were usually the best, especially the BBQ stand with limited serving hours. The highlight of our food experience was the service. Our MDR staff were fabulous and the cleanliness of all food dining areas was top notch.

Radiance was my first cruise! Breakfast was great but dinner was kind of lacking. Frozen veggies, freezer burned shrimp.

@@mortifiedmoose6938 my first was the Ecstasy in 2003. The food was great. I am hopeful the changes will restore Carnival's reputation.

I agree the MDR was very disappointing overall, when we went the end of May 2023. The buffet was worse and smelled like a school cafeteria on embarkation day. Breakfast was hit or miss. Although, Shak's, Guys, Blue Iguana, Deli, were all consistently good. Did not try the Italian specialty dining or the Sushi but had the filet mignon and lobster tail one night and since it was made to order, it was very good. The new menu doesn't look too promising, but hey you won't starve on a cruise, right? I'll be back on-board next month 😄

I stay away from the buffet for the most part because I have found it to be boring and not well executed. I eat breakfast in the MDR daily and make sure I am early for Sea Day Brunch. I have eaten at every spot except the steakhouse (since I am vegetarian) and Cucina Capitano. They have all been pretty decent. I will be putting up a video in the next week based on my last trip. Back on board for Halloween 2023. This time we will try the Italian eatery.

As a vegetarian, I've found the MDR to be a total disappointment. 😪😪 There are so many options at the Lido Marketplace, so most of our "fine" dining is done there. The MDR has "two" veggie options, neither of which are all that good. It's almost as though they have gone out of their way to push veggies away. My honey says her first cruise was in '95 and the veggie options in the MDR changed every evening. Wish they had continued that!!! First world problem. LOL. I'm hoping things go well when we board the Jubilee come January!

On my last cruise I found the Vegetarian Wellington to be delicious. While cruising, I will eat a meat dish to review it but off camera I am vegetarian for the most part. What I have noticed is that the food in the Buffet is just a smaller portion than what is offered in the MDR. When we sail in October, I will be reviewing as many Vegetarian dishes as I can eat. Please be on the look out for that video in November.

And not a minute too soon!!!! Our meals this year was nothing short of YUK!!!!! I feel with the money I spend with Carnival, I should have been served better food..........especially at breakfast!!! I was grateful for the deli. Dinner in the main dining room was a joke. Step up your game, Carnival!! Especially in the food department?? !!!

I just returned from a 3-day cruise with 2 people who never cruised before. They commented several times on how good the food in the MDR was. I noticed a the food had changed as well. The execution of some of the classic dishes were better than in the past. I can't wait to see what they have to offer now.

Discovered the Deli on port day and wished I had gone sooner- will definitely be my go-to next month.

OMG most people are sleeping on the Deli. My family loves the Deli. However, on my last trip in July the Deli was used on a port day for fresh omelettes during breakfast@@cacourtney

Are you sailing now? Which ones have you tried? I am not sure that all 60 dishes are currently offered so I am curious to know what the menu started with.

Carnival main dining is sub-par compared to Royal and NCL i get it you get what you pay for.

I have found that the price for sailings on Royal and Carnival are comparable. Are you more of a Royal fan? I have heard nothing positive about NCL's MDR.

@mrs.csessentialstravel if I had to chose between the 3 cruise lines it would 1st Royal 2nd NCL 3rd Carnival. Royal for me has a better atmosphere and there are more options for my children. If my wife and I want to party we probably do carnival. So yes I love Royal more than any other line I am platinum member with them

@@mrscsaffordabletravel unfortunately, no. It was all subpar. Sit down dining: choices were pretty limited and the food quality was poor. Wait staff was hit or miss, about a 50/50 split. Buffet: we usually don’t do the buffet but decided to try it one night. Again, selection was limited, and it was all cold. Marketplace: food was just okay. The staff worked their asses off to accommodate everyone. We haven’t sailed since pre-Covid but we had expectations from our previous cruises and this one definitely fell short.
