We flew to Brisbane and got on Quantum OTS. Saw this ship docked in Honolulu and I zoomed in with my phone to see name on ship. I as surprised it said Carnival because I recognized it as a Costa.

The Luminosa also launched in 2009 so not that old really! She is kept very clean, and the crew were great We sailed on her in March out of Brisbane. You mentioned about the floor in the buffet, I would say it is your shoes Gareth, we never any problem. Thank you for your overview on all aspects of the ship 👍👍Little bit of a side story we found out which may answer some people’s queries. Carnival initially had Costa Magica vintage 2003 scheduled to come down to Australia, she was being rebranded for that reason. However a Greek Ferry Company showed interest in her and eventually bought her Feb 2023. That left a gaping hole in the summer season for the South Pacific. Enter the Luminosa, as a result Carnival had very little time to rebrand her with all the usual bells and whistles. So it is not the ships fault, I believe she will get more of a refurbishment when next in dry dock. I guess they did the best they could. Yes she is a little dated, lot of brown and the additional colour palette is very Italian. We actually liked her, as we prefer the smaller to mid sized ships, not a floating city. She is a Vista class and a sister ship to Cunard’s Queen Elizabeth. For its northern hemisphere time, it is based in Seattle, cruising to Alaska. The fact that the upper decks are free at the moment for panoramic viewing will be a bonus doing the inside passage. Plus the pool roof can be closed as you showed and the full length panoramic windows on Decks 9 and 10 major BONUS if the weather is not the best. FYI the reclining bronze statue is affectionately known as “Donna” and she has a mark on her right hand bottom cheek where lots of people have rubbed her.

We made this video on the cruise out of Brisbane to Seattle. The ship was very clean and we enjoyed our time on board. We didn’t mean to sound negative, but we think they should’ve done a little bit better job on re-furbishing it before they launched. And yes, it may be my shoes. However, I did see other people slip in the same place. It was around the corner from the pizza place in the Buffet. They said they had a broken pipe and they couldn’t fix it. @@PortMonkeys well Gareth, you shed a bit more light, if there is a broken pipe with seeping water that’s a whole different story. I know where you mean, my cousin and I are night owls, so around 11pm we were always having pizza and a cuppa as supper before retiring. My cousin also has a metal rod and pins down her femur so I will be sure to keep an eye on her there. Btw we are doing their return transpacific to Brisbane in September via Alaska & Japan. Looking forward to it. Never been further Japan before, all new territory. 😊

Pretty old ship? I just sailed on a ship from 1997. It was refurbished and lengthened in 2005 and refurbished again in 2012. Im getting ready to go on Oasis of the seas that launched in 2009. So 14 years old isn’t that old for a ship. As long as they maintain them a ships age shouldn’t be a big deal. Where I live to our closest port the mega ships can’t enter so we need smaller ships and enjoy cruising on them. I have to drive to New York City or Florida to get on a newer ship so the older ships are still great as far as I’m concerned if maintenance is done

What we should’ve said is this ship seems older than it is. It seemed like they rushed to make it a Carnival ship. They should’ve taken their time. But we did enjoy our time aboard. Thank you for your comments and thank you for subscribing to our channel.

All of the shows look pretty boring to me. What do you think? None of them look like they would be that exciting to sit through to watch. Haven’t seen good shows on a cruise in many years. Maybe they are really cutting back also on that.

We think the singers are usually just average. Sometimes we don’t even go, especially if they do a second show. Most of the magicians do the same things and we can figure it out how they do it. So they are not very much fun, unless they’re funny. But we love the production shows no matter how many times we see them.

This is a terrible ship. Worst food on any ship ive been on. The "buffet" is ridiculous with terrible layout that results in long lines...then u have to get in another long line for a different item. The Donna sculpture takes up valuable room in an already small atrium area. The MDR wait is long, food sogetines ok, but a lot gets sent back. They couldnt even make a decent oatmeal, how hard is that?? Bench seats in MDR gave lg butt dents and are stained. The spa was beautiful and getting off in ports was easy. They should return this ship to Costa. Carnival screwed up with this ship.

I embarked on this ship back when it was still operated by Costa and called Costa Luminosa. Food was much better back then, the ship had much more class and elegance.
