So today we are finally taking a look at the Carnival Quadrant. Which came in third place in that vote a few months ago as for which watch you wanted to see first. Yet even with that, I've constantly been asked to review it as soon as I could.
Partially because there isn't much else out there like it on Aliexpress. Has a very interesting retro look with a cool domed crystal and a quadrant dial. All powered by a Miyota 8205.

Looks like a well put together watch for the price. The movement is my only regret, but hey it has a day date complication. Totally worth it!

Thanks for the review. I don't mind the 42 mm, since I like the bigger watches, but if I decide on this one, I would go for the teal or the red. They seem to be much more legible. I have a black dress watch with a metallic hands, even thicker ones than these ones and it is hard to read them in the dark. That's of course if I skip the Nakzen, which I think is still my preference.

Just been looking at your back catalogue. I did watch this video when it came out, i have just received a I&W Carnival 506G Green dial looks very similar to the 8894G but claims to have Sapphire crystal. Beautiful watch check it out .

Great review again Shane! I was one of the ones that picked this watch as the favorite of the four back then. I still dig it, a lot actually. You did point out a lot of little things that could be improved though, and I don't think I will be a buyer because of them, at least not at this price. Maybe if it had sapphire and/or a NH36 but right now it just sounds morellike a less than 50 dollar watch to me. I am picky though, and pretty cheap as well, haha.

Its a little better then some of the $50 ones I've seen, but not a whole lot. They are definetly not worth the $100 they are being sold for on Amazon, but I put a link to them anyway. But keep an eye out, they might swap movements or drop the price for some crazy sale.

Well, it's good looking with a Bauhaus flavor. Almost a Junghans Max Bill homage but not so thanks to the color of the second hands, the date-day and the pretty charcoal black sunburst dial. I'm one of those that doesn't mind the miyota stutter or more like I even noticed it before 😅. Nice video 👌😎

So far, I have seen this type of dial on two of its Chinese Contemporaries aka Le Sewor and Binger. www.aliexpress.com/item/32762963690.html www.aliexpress.com/item/33049655283.html There is also a 40mm variant called the Model C8894G-2 with a red stopwatch-like seconds hand and steel Miyota. Wow.. very cool. I'm interested, but not sure if I'm $500 interested. Still a great price for a tourbillon, just concerned about resale value if I sell it later to fund something else for the channel. I've been trying to not play the "I'm a watch reviewer, why don't you send me something" card too much. Yet for this I might see if I can contact someone. Maybe the official Guanchin store. Although I doubt they would send me something.

@@RelativeTime If I wasn't in the market for a Seagull ST800, I might have immediately snatched up the Guanqin with the Beijing movement. The urge to splurge is at an ATH with these Chinese pieces, becoming nearly impossible to resist, especially at these absurd prices. To put things in prospective, atypical tourbillons tend to cost above USD$50k mark (The Japanese sell them at well above USD$80 grand). Chinese tourbillons from Official Chinese watchmakers (BWAF, Shanghai and Seagull) tend to cost above USD$2.4k. So a watch with a Hangzhou/Shanghai, let alone Beijing tourbillon movement for less than $600 is absolutely mad, mad I tell ya. And they are selling the Hangzhou ones for USD$409... Absolutely bananas!

Nice review, i have the same watch but in green, look good and fell good, i have parnis watch with miyota 9100 and they go exactly the same for a week, neither is encouraged or delayed the other. I was able to get a price for this watch for € 52

Nikhil Jadhav I have one with a blue dial. When it arrived it was gaining about 10 seconds a day. I have adjusted it a bit and it has lost about 15 seconds in a week. So about -2 seconds a day. That is after leaving it in a drawer for a couple of days. While wearing it it was losing about -1 second a day.

Nice review. I have a 7 1/2 inch wrist so I tend to like the bigger watches. I swear it appears the crystal case back has a yellow tint to it. Thank you.

Wish the 12,3,6,and 9 indicators where more pronounced as they seem too blacked out. As you said it probably needs to be seen in person. Even though contrast color I do like that the day/date windows do not cutoff the 3 o'clock index, something not seen often. Thank you for the exhaustive review! Thanks for the review. A pretty much agree with your remarks. Is the movement really gold coloured or is it the crystal on the back that is just yellow/brown tinted? I've seen some pictures of watches (might have actually been Carnival) which have had tinted crystal on the back but with Seiko NH36.

That Dial is big looks like it wears like a 44 . Thought it would have more appeal to me although black would not have been my choice. Yes I'm looking forward to the last Watch of the series. If you look hard there are some Diamonds in the rough with these Chinese brands. 👍

Think it just goes to prove (if proof was necessary) that watches are so subjective. If you like the design no reason not to go for it. However, for me, I just don't see anything in it. Not a bad watch at all. Just another product from the seemingly endless AliExpress conveyer belt. Again not necessarily a bad thing, but having purchased a few similar in my time, just not for me. I don't particularly like it, especially because of the combination of the color of the dial with the hour a minute hands, but also because of the size. I also think probably the grey or the blue dials will look much better.

the watch is a cheap design with a good movement. The host’s voice is similar to the rock opera War of the Worlds. I like to watch, I don’t understand English. I love the clock. Good luck !!!

I purchased this watch a few months ago and am enjoying it. At that time the ad said the crystal was sapphire and not mineral. Not sure if they made a change on the one you received. As always with these sellers on Ali I hope I received what was being advertised.

I've seen a few that say that, but I doubt it. At least for the price. Flat Sapphire is fairly cheap, but domed and double domed get expensive. Although who knows.

A very nice review. This watch is actually a much better alternative to a MVNT or a Daniel Wellington, and it’s costs much less. Personally, I don’t like this style at all. However, it’s not bad for what you are getting. It kind of strange to put 30m wr on the dial of his style of watch. That should just be in the back.

I always check with a diamond meter, so what I got was mineral. Although it was a year ago, and things can change. One of the challenges of reviewing Chinese watches is they tend to swap out components without telling anyone.

I think that for this kind of watches, when they say that is "30m WR", it means that is less than that and you should keep it away from water. For the asked price, I think a Vostok would be better.

Thanks for letting me know. When i upload a video I tell it what playlists to add to. KZbin started using a new beta version of the interface a few months ago, and evidently it hasn't been doing as good a job as it should. At least that's why I'm guessing some of those were in triplicate. Unfortunately the playlist area isn't even in the studio interface, I have to go directly to the channel. So if you hadn't said anything I wouldn't of noticed for a while. I made the changes you mentioned, but I'll try to look at it in more detail later. Is the Miyota 9015 movement noise? I have a Miyota 9015 watch, the noise is quite loud.

That's normal. It's one of the downsides to the movement. But it's otherwise pretty good.

@@roymason7041 I've heard, but never tried it, that a drop of oil on the central part of the rotor helps. Although I'm not sure what oil. I'm guessing regular watch lubricant. You could probably ask in watchuseek forum somewhere. I'm betting someone there has actually tried it.

Well there will always be some variation between each movement. I think the Miyota 8200s are simmilar to the Seiko NH movements. So anywhere from -10 to +30 a day. However this specific one was +9 a day. 10:50

Well that would stand out more. In person the hands are legible, just very thin. I think the second hand might even be wider then the minute hand.

I like it, minus day & date complication. Lets be honest, if you don't have a wall of watch winders how are you going to ever keep this thing correct? Your not, so IMHO its a waste of time and it takes from the appearance versus improving it. Every person walks around with a phone with the day & date on it and every other conceivable piece of information at their finger tips so why would I need the day and date on my watch? Maybe, they should have tried to create a GMT hand versus day/date as the name Carnival sort of implies travel & festivity and usually that happens away from your home.

It is. I was shooting for 8-10 min, but wound up being 14. Not sure how exactly, maybe I'm getting to wordy. I even cut out a few parts, and was looking for more. I could of cut out a lot of the miyota stutter part, and just mentioned it had it. But I thought I should leave it in case anyone who wasn't familiar with it saw it.

The size of this piece is a problem, to big and bulky. I can see what they tried to achieve here, but I think it is a fail. More luck next watch. Can't win them all!

warning! do not buy this brand, the automatic movement charges poorly, it must be adjusted every morning, the watch does not correspond to the seller's image, carnival customer service is bad times! the quality and lower than the photo and the watch smaller than the measurements described by the seller

When you get a chance please check to see if the rotor still says Miyota. Reason I ask is that normally Miyotas are usually pretty good movements. Yet sometimes these AliExpress brands swap components without saying anything. So curious if your movment issues is from a bad Miyota or a random offbrand Chinese movement.
