Me. My first and to date only exposure of Carnotaurus on the big Screen. Though now I'm confused, as, to my understanding, it was implied that the movie started of on Madagaskar, so how did they get from there to what would become Argentina?

Michael Crichton's book The Lost World had a pair of carnotaurs, if I remember correctly. InGen developed them with super cool camouflage abilities. I get so upset with Jurassic Park "fans" reference the subpar JW movies whenever mentioning the carnotaur, instead of Crichton's book. (Also, I'm from India, so I'm particularly fascinated by abelisaurs).

Not talkin about the ones that got extinct before the asteroid hit earth... the bones wont last that long or they just got lost for ever in the dirt, rocks, plaques... just to understand, the livin beings that we see today are only 0.01% of all the beings that ever lived on earth... so its not only about the dinosaurs but about lots of livin beings.

Great content overall, just one question: How can we assume that Carnotaurus died out 3million years before the meteor and stuff? We only have one skelleton so how would you even determine that? Bitemarks or walking trails are all I could think of, but I don't recall them being mentioned?

@@Dianalol-fl7fz yeah the fossils they found. But how do you know there weren't carnotauri afterwards that just didn't fossilize (or leave traces that did) in places we looked? Fossilization is rather unlikely so as far as I can gather there is no sure way to know they didn't last until the asteroid.
@CarlSlime
@CarlSlime Жыл бұрын
@@sizanogreen9900 Estimates for when a dinosaur was alive is made based on the rock layers around it typically, so when they dug the remains of a carnotaurus out from wherever they found it, they would have also sampled the rock and soil where it was buried and dated it. Since there's only one skeleton, and rock layers take millions of years to form, it's just an operating assumption that is subject to change should another older or younger skeleton be found.

The skin or scales of the animal would tell you more about the mating contests than the horns. If the animals used their horns for displaying dominance like a bull the top of the skull would be heard or dense enough to absorb the impact of butting heads. The bone plates under the animals skin would determine if the horns were used like a rhino. I believe they used the horns as shade for the eyes and as a weapon of predation. Instead of biting the prey, gore it. That is my theory.
@Titanscreaming
@Titanscreaming Жыл бұрын
It goes many ways. As much as we learn about the dinosaurs we know, that there is that much information missing as well. And we are left with the artists renderings based on scientific study and today's animals. We look at their skeletons and design the flesh around it but the skin of a dinosaur could have had many features and growths that never were preserved. Which made some of them look and behave very differently than from what we are told. But true enough, If Carno's horns were used for something more than display, than they would have had powerful horns to combat with. It is easy for us to imagine males fighting over females like deer do.

There is evidence that dinosaurs coexisted with man. Chinese culture is loaded with dragons. Artistic embellishments make it impossible to determine exactly what they saw. In British folklore, we have St. George slaying the dragon. It is my understanding that in the folklore of Beowulf and Grendel, the dragon resembled a T-rex. In many American Indian cultures, the Thunderbird has a resemblance to a ptreanodon. In a either Mayan or Aztec temple was a picture of an archaeopteryx, a bird with dinosaur features like a dinosaur mouth with teeth instead of a beak.

Im confusion, they can reconstruct a therizenisaur from a couple claws and other dinosaurs from a couple of toe bones, but one osteoderm doesnt rebuild an ankylosaur? And a few more toes and a vertebrae dont rebuild a brontosaurus? Where's the line, how come one scientist can just make up the rest of animal from whatever he finds but the next can't. Not like there is any punishment for being proven wrong later if so every jail would be full to bursting with paleontologists. Somebody explain?

This is a great video! Too bad its COMPLETELY WRONG!!!😂😂😂 This dinosaur is aquatic. I cannot fathom how they the brilliant scientists cannot look and see this baffles my mind. Strong jaws, strong neck, long tail capable of movement, and big back legs "designed to swim" this animal was waaaay more comfortable in water than out. Much like a duck is today. I give up. Say what you want, but just look at it and picture it on land, then picture it in water. What makes more sense?
