I love Harvey Korman, and I miss him. There was just something about him that always made him likable, regardless of the character he played. Heaven must be roaring with laughter now.

I have laughed harder at Tim and Harvey together than I have at anyone ever. It just goes to prove a point, you don't have to be vulgar to make people laugh or to be a great comedian.

In our house, we never missed an episode of Carol Burnett. Now you can see why, looking back at these clips. Back then we didn't know these shows would be timeless classics -- look at the junk on tv today. Blah.

@@ginniekinz5401 they all are notorious for ad lib, improv, going off script and running with it. Korman always said he couldn't keep it together when Conway went off. Most famous skit was the "elephant", Burnett could not keep a straight face so she "bowed" her head to hide her face, then Vicki Lawrence drops the bomb...they all fell to the ground laughing... that's the genius of all of them.

On one of the Columbia House tapes of the series, there's an episode that aired a few weeks after this one in which Carol shows an alternate take of "The Ad Men" skit (maybe from the rehearsal show). There's only a minute or two shown, but Tim cannot stop laughing--he's barely able to utter a single line.

As funny as Harvey Korman was as a castmember on Carol Burnett, I thought he was even funnier when Mel Brooks found him work. Blazing Saddles, High Anxiety, History of The World.

I agree with that assessment of Van Dyke. Outside of the original Dick Van Dyke Show of the 60's, in which by his own admission Rob Petrie was not far removed form his real persona, Van Dyke was rarely convincing as an actor, especially in dramatic roles.

Doesn't this also sound like gay men in a way?
@FigaroHey
@FigaroHey 5 жыл бұрын
It's funny because in those days, people knew the obvious: there are two sexes. So when men talked about business as though they were in a romantic, man-woman relationship, it was funny. Nowadays they'd think it was just another gender having a business conversation. No sense of humor since people lost their minds with gender politics.
@E.C.A.D.
@E.C.A.D. 4 жыл бұрын
@@FigaroHey what are you talking about? The whole point of this sketch is that it is supposed to sound like a love triangle between the 3 men, while it is in fact about business. So yes, it does sound gay and it's supposed to. And 'gay' is not a gender like man or woman it's a sexual orientation?

Steve Lawrence was more funny than Tim Conway and Harvey Korman. Sorry to say that but he never cracked up till his entry and keep a straight face throughout the skit. But I saw Tim and Harvey to laugh on several occasions.
