Growing up m, I was afraid to wear my true colors. I was steered away from color because I was "so dark". Now, all I wear is true winter colors. Royal blue, royal purple, and magenta are my absolute favorites.

Yep... that's why I say colour is more priority than style in one's look.... you could be in the best style for you but if the colours are washing you out (includes hair, makeup, clothing), it is not such a good look for you!

I had my colors done and learned my season on Saturday. I am amazed at how much of a difference I notice in my appearance since I started wearing the right colors. I am also a winter. I feel like I look healthier and happier. Definitely, the whites of my eyes look brighter. I have always loved the color yellow and bought lots of it. I showed my consultant the pile of golden yellow shirts and dresses I've bought over the years and lamented that I could never seem to get them to look good against my skin - and now I know why. :) I'm going to donate all that yellow and hopefully, some lovely lady can use them since I cannot. Additionally, I'd sworn off silver jewelry and preferred gold because I am African American with a caramel complexion and was always told that yellow gold would look best on me. Well, the consultant told me that silver or white gold would be the better option and did the test to show me and it was amazing!!!! My face lit up when I put on the silver. Since Saturday, I have only worn makeup, clothing and jewelry in my colors and I am shocked at the response I get from people. Lots of stares, tons of compliments, and I *feel* better. I encourage everyone I know to have this done.

I see the shift in the cooler colors as far as sculpting her face. However, she just glows with the other colors. It's like a light bulb is lit within her. I am a similar shade. I guess I'm not as distracted by the other colors. The final pallet choice does seem to lift her face which is great.

This stumps me every time! After you point oit the disconnection and jaw line I start to see it but almost always I start out going "yeah! That (wrong) color looks better on her!" not feeling hopeful to determine my own coloring:/ but enjoying your tutorials :p

I think although the lightest tones in her skin are warm and golden, the mid to deeper levels of her skin lean more cool/grey and her dark hair and eyes lean cool brown/black, so even though she has that yellow tone peaking through in the highlights, the coolness dominates

I enjoyed watching this video and seeing how beautiful and alive Andrea becomes when wearing the true winter colors. I had to laugh because, I too, wanted to be able to wear oranges and browns like Andrea wanted to. However, after many years attempting to wear warm colors I now realize that true winter colors are really my colors! Now, I just shake my head and say, "What was I thinking!!!" Also, I DEFINITELY believe that eye color, skin and hair color all have to be taken into account. I've tried a system that analyzes your face shape and features placement that then determines your "energy type" which then shows what colors you should wear. I've decided that that system might indicate a person's "energy type", but not the correct clothing colors. To be in harmony, color wise, I don't believe eye, hair and skin color can be left out of the equation. Thanks again for an enlightening video, Carol!

I'm black with medium brown skin. I've been wearing a lot of silver jewellery since I started working after graduation, mostly because I want to buy real metals not costume out plated stuff, and suddenly I like how I look with silver even though I swore gold looked nice in me, I bought a gold earring so I could have variety... And sometimes it just makes my skin look grey and dirty. At 4am, after watching this video (even though the only thing I understood is that you say the person should shine more than the colour), I brought out all my colourful clothes and put my skin on them, found one shirt where my skin just GLOWED (yellow reddish I dunno, just glowing) then I used that shirt as a benchmark for what my skin looks like when it's just shining and glowing and looking healthy. 😭My dark red t-shirt that I adore turns off the glow in my skin, I look like the pale version of a dark person... Just colourless, my bright orange work shirt is trying to compete with my skin, my lime green cotton jumper has turned off the yellow in my skin... Purple is still terrible, I hate that colour anyway. 😀 But luckily, other colours in my wardrobe make my best skin glow a golden colour, cool blues, cool greens, which is so weird since I thought I was warm and should wear more warm stuff. However I do remember telling like hands looked really pretty with blue or black nail polish on and getting complements. I had to do this away from the mirror too, have you found that mirrors have yellow tinged to them? And finally, mustard yellow in almost a complete paradox goes well... Neither my skin nor the coloured item tries to outdo each other... It's almost neutral. And royal blue made my skin so golden I almost looked like a highlighter XD. Does skin undertone change? In my head all the colours that looked good against I was thinking of getting rid of as they didn't have much warmth, and I liked as concept, colours that made me look terrible... Thank God I found this video as I was going to stock up on deep reds and lime greens.

The green is a stunning difference and that emerald on her is wow. I’m looking at cool for my friend. I’m learning what is summer and winter. I’m trying to figure myself out but I’m thinking I’m a deep autumn even though I really feel neutral. I do the app and usually says deep winter but I am warm but yellows and oranges do not look great but finding the deep autumn being my shades even naturally. I find deep winter too bold for me. I want to see if I can figure my friend who is dark skin and I don’t think deep contrast but very much a cool. She wears black so much and says she prefer natural makeup when dressed up. I want to see if I can pinpoint it, as I’m learning this.

Apparently there are three types of undertones in dark skin there is warm, neutral and cool. Sometimes a neutral undertone can have some cool mixed in with it and some warm mixed and with it.

Hi Carol! As Andrea I have warm appearance (medium skin tone) but gold looks really bad on me, as Bad as other warm colors (camel, rust, burn Orange), so I thought I was cool because silver and other cool colors look quite good on me. But after doing Lot of research I got the answers. No, I'm not cool. I am warm and soft, that means I am neutral with a tiny more of warm, which also means that cool and soft colors look better on me than a bright yellow. Even tho a bright royal blue looks better than a bright yellow because what reflects more light? A royal blue or a bright yellow? For us who are soft and warm, the brighter and warm the worst. So, I think this is happening to Andrea, she might probably be a soft warm. I did a test in my pc, i put her photo over a soft cool pink, and other in a soft warm peach. In the cool pink I can see all the sharp edges but in the soft peach her photo blended very well. What do you think? (Sorry for My English, I am from México) 😄
