"Eric Johnson..." And he looked behind him like "Who? Me?" 😆 That has to be one of the best Les Paul tones I've ever heard, cool yet warm, masterful!

Incredible that Eric went largely unnoticed until around 1985. He was playing otherworldy guitar already in the mid 70s.
@SteveBello7 жыл бұрын
The story I heard was Prince saw him in a club and told Warner Brothers to sign him. Not sure how accurate that is but even if part of it is true, that would be cool.

When you hear his playing it really is otherworldy. Well-put.

Looking at the trend above the progress bar it's safe to say LOTS of viewers (incl. this one) come here for the Eric Johnson guitar solo 😄! But Carole King AND the rest of the band is really worthwhile too! Great pop music.🙂

Carole knows how to have fun. You can see how much joy she gets from the music. I love watching her!

As many years as I've been a fan of Carole's I never knew Eric Johnson played with her. He's great, too. My teenaged guitar playing son used to listen to his music about 20 years ago and that's how I first heard him.

its such an unmistakeable Eric Johnson 'tone'... Even back then it was so unique as it still is today!

Hey toomany guitars - yes that is surprising - till 1985. Interesting to hear him on a LesPaul .Notice how much Carole King thinks of him . Also your comment about him being 'otherworldly ' tells me you know a lot about guitar ! Of all the people on the cover of Guitar Player Magazine - Eric is the one who more than lived up to the hype . What really shocked me is later after KZbin - I realized that he is even better live than on his albums . I am glad EJ is here and still around .

I love how Eric looks behind him when carol says his name. Thats so funny how humble he is when he fuckin knows he's a badass guitarist. He has to know even back then then he was just a fucking master guitarist

I know its sometimes cliche to say: But musically speaking, Carol King was so freekn ahead of her time. And seeing a forever young and skinny Eric Johnson playing an LP instead of a Stratocaster is trippy...
@jamespeyton7312 Жыл бұрын
Yes, Waddy Wachtel said King gave him his first big tour job as well-said her Thoroughbred album was the conduit to all his 70s and 80s work for so many artists.

I didn't know a video of this song DOES exist!! it's really nice to see how Carole King explore a more dynamic (..and a bit funky sound, IMHO) feel in her music. A great video, not to mention EJ 's doing the solo!! thank you for posting this, really, really thank you!

Mesa Boogie MkI I think. Eric chased the sound in his head which was better than most if not everyone.

How about that? I was listening to this album on the way in to work, and came to see if there was any footage of Carole in this period and VOILA. ONE TO ONE was actually my intro to Carole (as a kid in the mid-80s). This song and "Golden Man" are my favorites from this album. An underappreciated and VERY soulful album!

What kind of fool do you think I am To believe you really give a damn You're just lookin' out for number one You wanna win, no way you're gonna lose Between me and you, which one will you choose I know you're lookin' out for number one Just look behind the silver screen you've built around yourself You will find you're just the same as anybody else And that's allright What kind of fool are you gonna be There's a locked-up soul and you hold the key But you're too busy lookin' out for number one What will you do, will you go through the day Only half alive, who are you anyway Just lookin' out for number one What kind of chance are you willing to take Are you willing to give just a little bit for your own sake That's really lookin' out for number one Really lookin' out for number one Lookin' out for number one
