I love snakes! Photographing all species in North Carolina is a goal and now I can check the Carolina Pygmy Rattlesnake off the list! Here is my recent outing!!

I grew up in Goldsboro, never heard of these( thank heavens!). But they are absolutely beautiful!

Neil great pictures again never knew we had the only red pygmy rattlers thanks again and now I wonder how many I have walked by in all my years in the woods

They are beautiful snakes. What part of eastern NC were you in? It didn't look like Alligator River NWR. And a more important question. What brand of boots are you wearing? They look pretty snake proof.

Thanks Jeff! Can’t give exact location but it was close to their! My boots were just for wading in water. Non snake proof :)

Interesting video. I had no idea that there were that small and beautiful rattlesnakes. I have to keep my eyes on the ground from here on ;-)

We have a lot of different species of rattlesnakes here in Arizona. The red rattlesnake you have is beautiful and so small. How venomous are they? Deadly?

They have mild venom, shouldn’t be too bad unless you are allergic. Nether the less you should seek medical treatment.

Hello I'm a new subscriber. Just came across this video today while searching Carolina Pygmy Rattlesnakes. I was reading thru all of your comments.. because I thought that bridge looked familiar lol. Anyhow I live in Washington and now have hopes of seeing one. They are so beautiful! You took very nice photos.. I love taking photos out in nature! Thank you for this video😊

Most enjoyable video, Neil. Mind sharing the location? Looks like Lake Mattamuskeet area but I’ve only been there twice. Be great to see one of these little guys!

Yeah it’s out that way in ENC but I can’t share the location. Pretty much all over out in ENC, I looked for years before finally finding them

Yes the larger ones do, this little guys hadn’t even grown any rattles yet

I have found 2 dead on road on separate occasions almost exactly location for both. I found them on a road off of highway 134 in Conway South Carolina.
