I don't think any part of this project has been as exciting as putting the freshly painted motor back on. It truly feels like a giant hurdle passed. It has been a lot of work, blood, sweat, and very late nights getting to this point. Once I finally could step back and see the motor bolted onto the new transom. There truly was some light at the end of the tunnel.
At this point in the rebuild I have three weeks before it’s supposed to be on its way to the beach. I still have to wire, rig, mount the trolling motor, and fix a few things on the trailer. It is still a overwhelming task, but my hopes are high. Even though most of the video was taken from 10:00 pm to 2:00 am.
I really racked my brain trying to make sure I ordered the correct steering cable. Measuring over and over again. I was afraid I was not going to get one long enough. Thankfully one of the longest ones they make was perfect. If my memory is correct it was 18’. I have next to no personal experience with different brands. The steering system I removed was the same one my Dad and I put on in 96 or 97. Therefore I read a lot of reviews. I settled on one from Amazon. So far it has seemed to be great. Relatively simple install and seemingly built well.
In full disclosure, my camera skills were not the best for this video. With so much going on and starting to feel the pressure. My mind was all over the place. Thankfully I believe I was still able to pull it all together. I’ll let you be the judge. Thank you to everyone who has watched and commented on this rebuild. Especially those who have been along for the whole ride. It’s been a bumpy one, but we are almost there!
