@@CarolinaCoopsVideos I continue to be impressed with your coops. I have watched almost all of your videos. If I wanted an American coop, is it possible to offset the entrance for the chickens and install one large door with the clean out door underneath on the inside? Then have the double doors on the outside as usual?

This is so beautiful. I like the storage aspect, although I think I like your regular style where you have the back doors that are screened for better ventilation for the birds. But I would not complain if this showed up in my backyard! Those windows are out of this world. You are a talented craftsman, this is just beautiful, and you really know what chickens need to be happy! PS the chicken police people 😆

I like the industrial hemp being user in the coop.... Chickens are finally getting the recognition they deserve as far as proper care goes... They face diseases and predators way too much and the whole design of these coops takes a lot of stress off of the chickens..... The hemp will be excellent for them also..... So beautiful and clever are these coops...

I’ve been watching your videos for years. I’m someone who always believes there is a better way to do everything and you’ve amazed me as you’ve perfected these chicken coops over time. I thought they were great years ago but somehow they keep getting better. You’ve thought of everything! I’m curious if you’ve ever designed a coop with the egg collection on the inside room. That’s the only thing I can imagine adding on that would make it perfect in my mind.
@CarolinaCoopsVideos3 жыл бұрын
First of all, thank you for being such a fan and for all the kind words. We do have coops with the egg collection on the inside. One was a shed/henhouse combo in Rhode Island. That egg hutch was inside the shed part: Custom Shed/Chicken Coop - Part 2: The Walk-Through. We also did one in Santa Fe. It was a very modern coop so we didn't have the egg hutch bump out. Although that lead to other considerations, like how to keep the birds from pooping on it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eYu1dH6efqiBldU

Thanks for another informative video.

Hi Dan. First of all, thank you for choosing us when you bought your chicken coop. You want to make sure your area is perfectly level where the coop sits. these are fab coops. makes me want one. My question, when the chickens go in at night, is it pitch dark and if it is, how do they make it to the nest to lay eggs. and do they only lay eggs at night?

Chickens go up to roost at night at dusk. They do this instinctively. They lay eggs during the day and seek out the cozy nest box then. Thanks for your questions.

Friends have a big coop and have to clean daily and there is still a smell. No smell here. Thanks. can I post link to my youtube video?

Would it make it easier/safer for the chickens, especially young chicks, to climb the ladder if you did some kind of textured paint or natural wood texturing or something on the ladder steps? Like that grippy stuff they put on ramps and such to help people not slip when it's wet?
@CarolinaCoopsVideos2 жыл бұрын
Most chickens fly up half way then walk up the last few steps. We haven't had any complaints from customers about their chickens not being able to navigate the ladder. Young chicks wouldn't be in the run until they are fully feathered, and by then they just fly up to the top. Thanks for watching.

Will the feeder attract mice?
@CarolinaCoopsVideos4 жыл бұрын
What attracts mice is a place for them to have a warm dry place that is close to a preferred food source. So it’s debatable to say this exact design will attract mice more than other feeders. I don’t see how this style feeder can be any more or less attractive to rodents.
