I would just like to say thank you for NOT editing that slip when the trap snapped on you unexpectedly. being that I am still a novice trapper, I have done that more than a couple times...LOL I always wondered if I was 'special' or if other people do that too... mose people edit that out I think.. Thank You for including it... earned a thumbs up from me!

Atleast it wasn't a conibear. The old man and my uncle that showed me how to trap, was coming down the creek with a 330 on his arm he couldn't get off and drove about 3 miles to my uncles for help. It happens man! You play with fire long enough and you bound to get burned. Take those instances and learn from them! Good job young man! Stay in the woods and on the water! I've received many many DEATH THREATS from folks that have no idea what they're talking about. I do a lot of nuisance trapping of problem coyotes,bobcats,lions and bears and I have had people try and pull a gun on me when they learned that I wasn't gonna release the animal. They do not understand that when a animal keys in on humans=equal easy Meals, if you relocate you just give the problem to someone else! Keep up the great work my friend!!

I just came across your videos and subscribed. You remind me a lot of myself in my younger days. I started trapping in 1978 before the internet was conceived and had to learn most of what you're teaching over years of trial and error. I know trappers catch a lot of flack because of the image painted by the anti's, so I like to support trappers who do a good job representing the hobby we all love. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the great video. I live in Phoenix, Arizona and am trying to protect my flock of chickens and ducks. For years coyotes would come in at night but we lock up our flock at night and they are protected. This year a few have been coming in during the day, when my birds are more vulnerable and they have hauled off over 50 of my birds so far. They dig holes under the fence surrounding my 15 acre farm and come in that way. Recently I started using Snares and Traps at these holes and so far I've got 4 Coyotes. After I get one I fill in the holes under the fence and when a new hole appears, I set a new trap or snare ( I alternate from traps to snares ). When I use a snare, I hang it in the hole directly below the fence. When I use a trap, I set it a few feet in from the fence.For bait I have been using a chicken carcass, when I have one, anchored down a angled hole in front of the trap. I have never used store bought bait but wonder if different bait should be used in different parts of the country???? I'd like your input as you seem to know a lot about bait. Also, why do you combine different baits in front of a trap? I would think a coyote would eat anything he could catch trying to survive and not be picky about food. Thanks again for the good advice in your video.
@CarolinaCoyote3 жыл бұрын
I don’t combine baits. I combine baits with lures depending on what time of the year it is. When it’s warm outside, bait and a soft lure is good. When it’s cold, bait and a loud slinky lure is good. When it’s cold and breading season; bait, loud slinky lure, and a coyote gland lure is good. Coyotes smell in layers. For example, when we smell a cheeseburger the coyotes smell burger, bun, lettuce, cheese, katchup, etc. they may get shy of the chicken carcass you’re using to trap them. They’ll eventually figure it out. That’s when different baits and different methods of trapping them come in handy. I hope this helps out! Thanks for the awesome and in depth comment!!

Thanks for the lessons.

Whenever I trap a new property I use the app On X to mark my trap sets so I don’t forget where they are. There’s other apps you can use like HuntStand or Google maps works fine too. Most of the time I remember where I put all of them and how many I put on each property. Hope you get to catching some critters soon!

While I'm sure my comments probably will not help much with the ""be kind to animal"" group I'll add it anyway. To the ones who think traps hurt animals especially wolves, bobcats, fox, and coyotes obviously have never had their livestock, chickens, cats, dogs killed and eaten by one of these animals. If anyone thinks that these animals aren't capable of this or they believe that their dog or dogs can defend themselves then they are mistaken. These animals not only go after other animals they can and will attack humans as the case of a 21yr old mother who had given birth to a set of twin girls 2 years before. The mother was outside with both 2yr old girls playing while she sitting down reading. Ill spare everyone the rest of the details but the young mother sustained life changing injuries but survived but the 2 young girls were never found and to this day have never been found. To the young man trapping and to every trapper that reads this, thank you for every one of these animals you catch and place somewhere much safer.

Thanks for the comment! I’m a huge turkey hunter. My favorite animal to chase. Best predators do so much damage on the population! I’ve seen a lot of improvement since trapping so I hope you do too! Coons are your biggest threat for turkeys!
@tfred21292 жыл бұрын
Coons and possums are hands down the biggest part of predation on wild turkeys. Our populations across the country are in decline and the biggest reason is nest predators. That ol hen will find her a place to raise them poults, but not if they never hatch!
