Once the oceans represented the end of the known world and the start of the unknown, the margins of the world, the limits of a map; a place where magic and monsters could be found. Times change, but the ocean still awakens in us the search for the mysterious.
"Ocean" was recorded live in Princeton, USA in October 2019.

The combination of theremin-as-sound-effect - dolphins! waves! sea lions! with theremin-as-atmosphere - the rippling light when you're underwater looking up at the sun through the waves; the muffling thrum when your ears are below the surface - with theremin-as-melodic-and-harmonic-instrument - whale song! All adding up to a piece of music that *feels*, somehow, like being beneath an ocean... It's amazing.

This sounds often like the "Songs of the whales". There is a record called so. I never realised, that they play theremin, but today their sounds are demystified. :-) Thanks Carolina, for the beautiful soundscape!

The visual effects are a welcome addition. I love that your performance is as much a mime as this is a piece of musical art. Truly mesmerising. And it's also great that you have kept your clothing simple. I'm far from victorian in my attitudes, but in this case it's just classy and adds an elegance to your performance. It would be fun to see what you might wear to play Soliloquy - some kind of futuristic jump suit maybe. :-)

Caroline - i love music and was introduced of the Theramin in a danish radio programme where a saxofonist expressed his joy in learning this strange instrument, After listening to Ocean it reminds me of some of my first Pink Floyd records "Astronomy Domine " . or especially "Set the Controls for Heart of the Sun" where there is a lot of "Theremin Sound " Interesting :) If you do not know these records the I suggest you listen to them.
