They did not have a fling, they got married. The writer of the show chose to go the way of melodrama and destroyed one of the most loved lesbian couples on TV just for ratings. Most loved by actual lesbians that is. In the end the writer lost a lot of the lesbian viewership. I can say this because I looked at the show up to season 3 episode 4 and no further, and so did a lot of persons I know.

I cannot watch the show past Series 3 episode 3. I even think Series 4 became a little boring to watch without a solid relationship for Caroline.

@@Eddool6514 sort of. It’s completely different though. I like GJ, but it’s always contentious, LTH, was an adult love story. There was drama of course, but at the end of the day you always knew they loved each other. And it was so nice to not see only 20 somethings! I was mid 30’s when this came out, it was so nice. Lol

It happens alot . For example on The US Soap Opera Guiding Light they "Killed" off Two Beloved Characters. Kathy Grant in the 1950's and then the biggest "Death" on The Show Maureen Bauer who was the much loved Hospital Administrator at Cedars Hospital. Her Best Girlfriend Lillian Raines a Nurse had an affair with her Husband Dr. Ed Bauer, she found them "together" she drove off in a Snowstorm and died. Tina Sloane who played Lillian went from being dropped from Contract to Recurring (The Equivalent Of A Temp) and she didn't live it down. When the show was about to be cancelled in 2009 Lillian went to Maureen's Grave and "apologized" 16 Years later.
