I love this song. Her version has been stuck in my head all week. Even though Shane did cool stuff (yellow brick road line), I still definitely prefer her version. It has more meaning to me, and I actually like all the S sounds in the chorus. Writers like her writing from the heart are why I watch this show. When they said "who are you talking to" in the "we's," to me the answer is myself, life, society, all of us! Most people can relate to wanting to feel in control of their dreams.

I love the metaphors she uses, how she combines idioms in her lyrics, and the way she enunciates the words--such a unique sound! Also totally agree with comments saying that it shouldn't necessarily be reworked to be a song about a relationship. Why does every song have to be about love and relationship angst? These lyrics caught my attention because it so ACCURATELY describes the point-of-view of a young 20-something coming into her own and balancing idealism with the "real world." Don't chaaange it

This is an incredible song and should have been left untouched. It's a song about both self-doubt and hope at the same time.The melody is amazing. I think this is a beautiful song. I would keep it about personal fears that we think everyone feels (i.e., we're all circling round the same fear) wondering if we really can't do anything but the little we can already do. But then I would hope by the end the song transitions to a "yes, I really can change, improve, succeed" vibe. Otherwise it's just a "make me depressed and hopelessly crying" song. A beautiful one but still sad. It could still include rainbows.
