As a Night Owl who has tried repeatedly to time shift, one of the things I was always certain of if I managed to be conscious and coherent before 9:00am was that I was almost without fail emotionally sensitive and needed time and space to myself to just BE, no forced interactions or activity or I went from 0 to 90 on the “murderous scale”. Later, in my 30’s I figured out how to set clear boundaries about that with the people in my life (the cats, not so much, but they get a pass). However, when you named this hour “The Moping Hour”, without judgment or guilt, I felt such relief and joy, sincerely, thank you, that is accurate and I have secretly called it that myself, and have taken it as a time of refuge, as if it were a Buddhist principle - which, if you think about it a bit, it certainly can clear the mind, body, and spirit in a powerful and beneficial way, for me it became a kind of liberating mindfulness without rules…

"Laziness doesn't exist" one of psychologists teachers (ex-ballerina) told us in the university. "Laziness" can be just a SYMPTOM of psychosomatic or physical health problems, lack of deep sleep, unbalanced diet, lack of physical activity, PTSD, depression, fears, thyroid, diabetes, inflammation, stomach or heart issues, etc. There is even a book by Devon Price about it. "Wasting time is a necessary part of life. Basic human needs and our lives can be defined by our values, our relationships, and the things that give us pleasure, rather than guilt, shame, productivity, or trying to earn our right to be alive". "The Laziness Lie is the source of the guilty feeling that we are not “doing enough”; it’s also the force that compels us to work ourselves to sickness".

I just want to say thank you. I am a mom to a toddler, full time student, and work as a bartender 3 nights a week. I do feel myself subconsciously comparing my morning routine and productivity to 22 year old childless influencers 😅 bartending really messes with my mornings but I think I mostly counteract that by being productive when I come home at 10:30-11 pm since my baby is asleep

The next step for me after not optimizing for productivity is replacing that with prioritizing REST throughout the day. I think thats part of the reason pomodoro works so well, we need to recharge! Normalize taking breaks and refilling your cup instead of working until you have absolutely nothing left. Especially with a chronic illness, this is the only way I can operate at all. Great video as always, Caroline. 😊
@leeloomultipass93597 ай бұрын
I feel like pomodoro gives me five minutes to create space between hyperfocusing so that I can recognize that I need to take a break ya before burnout. And the space gives me a better perspective on when to call it a day. To make better tade offs about my time and energy. And it's like a lure because I say "it's only 25 minutes to commit to..."

As a budding solo-preneur starting my own interior design journey, this is the most relatable morning routine I’ve ever watched, and it made me feel a lot better- I also find staring into the void a necessary part of my “process” and can’t wake up early for the life of me haha. @@Caroline_Winkler Your videos are an amazing work of art. I don't think you've left the acting career behind at all. You're just using your talent in other ways--in the "new medium" of KZbin. Only, instead of playing a character, you're just being yourself. As you aptly noted in another video, the challenge is to keep being one's authentic, honest (and a tiny bit fearful) self. Yet, to paraphrase Shakespeare, "all the world's a stage," and aren't we all characters in our own dramas anyway?

O. Em. Gee. Must I thank you for this vlog...? Yes. I feel this so much. I refuse to journal in the morning. I am just trying to wake up and get my bearings around myself! Hello, Me! Journaling actually makes me focus on the negative instead of the positive "shiz-i-nit" going on in my life. The gratitude journal is more helpful, fo' sho' but... Being lazy waking up...and... the "souls" of my feet finding the cool spots on my blanket... HEAVEN! Comfort is QUEEN.

I love this so much lol. I started voice journaling. I can do it while I’m sitting at my desk working or if I decide to go for a walk. I wanted to journal for a really long time, but I got stuck on the idea that I had to write it all down. So I just didn’t do it. Now I do and it’s so much better because I use voice to text or I can keep audio files. And it searchable and I can include pictures if I want to.

I just accept, as I’m still unemployed, that I won’t be productive in the mornings so I make it my meal\snack prep and guitar playing time with very light email reading and job applying. Then in the afternoon I’m much more productive in my freelancing projects, sometimes I’ll work till too late bc I’m a night owl but like I said, since I don’t work much in the morning I kinda don’t mind work being an afternoon evening thing. And the stretch thing is so real, I started running bc I need to do something that makes me go outside and move for an hour, otherwise I start stretching and get bored or ironically overstimulated by all the yoga vids I could follow lol. All this to say, I appreciate this video! It’s not easy to be chronically online and have unrealistic expectations of how I should act

Anyway, in the Netherlands sunrise changes a lot troughout the year and we use the german time zone instead of our own, so sunrise is later than average, and then we change the clock for summertime and sunrise is still not early. I look at my phone while my computer starts up, but tend to only pick it up now and again during the day. On the weekends, I get up anywhere between 8 and 9am, and me and my husband have breakfast in bed while having really lazy mornings watching youtube videos on our phones. Your honest and real self is not even just a breath but a GASP of fresh air for us all. I fall prey to trying to have my own perfect morning routine that would look completely excessive and weirdly late to most people. But I just have to say that your 8:30/9am wake up time is the most validating and helpful, honest things I've heard someone share in quite a long time (maybe sad for us as a whole, but true). I already loved your personality and videos, and this was just a whole new level of real and actually quite brave. There's too much curation and glossing over realness these days, and you are NOT that and I adore it. Thanks for sharing this with us and for taking the time to make these videos.

I have had to get up early, running as soon as my feet hit the ground. The past year or so, I've found it harder to do that. I have been feeling so guilty that I'm not as productive as I used to be in the early part of the day and struggle with the internal voice calling me lazy (a throwback from my teen years.)
