What a fabulous video Caroline. The views, the shops, the food, drinks and, of course watching you and the lovely Ashley. Somebody has planned everything down to a T! When I lived in Kuwait, the air conditioning used to play havoc with me. I felt that a lot of lurgies lurked inside all of the different air conditioning units. So sorry that you were ill Caroline. A few years ago you had seriously thought about ending g your channel, I was upset for what you were feeling. Might have been a few months or weeks when you came back, I was delighted 😊 . We were recommended a visit by a couple on our cruise in October and it was fabulous! Much quieter when we visited but an amazing room! So much fun and such great decorations everywhere! When you first said Macy's I immediately thought of that wooden escalator and then you showed it to us!! I have fond memories going to that store a few times. Sorry you got sick. I always carry Cold-eeze lozenges whenever I travel and I too got a cold on our trip to Spain this past May. Having those lozenges helped so much!! My cold would have been much worse without them. Not sure they're available in the UK but I think it's the zinc in them that helps ease symptoms. Hoping you didn't get too sick 😞

Loathe A\C it plays havoc with my eyes when it is cold. Love NYC and it was good to visit again! One of the downsides of travel at this time of year is picking up colds. Hope you get rid of it quickly.

NY is amazing isn’t it. So much to see and do and it helps if you’re well and fit. Been once and loved it but was horribly ill and doped up for a bit of the time. We were there for my DiL to do the NY marathon. The cruise back will be much more relaxing and pampering for you I’m sure 🙋🏼🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Yes I agree . I was going to post something similar . I appreciate your honesty Caroline. I’m a little older than you,late 50s rather than your mid 50s but I find travel tiring even though I enjoy it. So many New York blogs are all go ( not that you don’t do plenty) and enjoy seeing something more real .

Sorry you were not well. Colds often seem to wait till you’re on holiday to show up. Grand Central Station looks amazing. I remember going to the Oyster Bar for clam chowder there. I’m glad you got your Bath & Bodyworks shopping.

If your hotel room curtains don't close completely, you can use one or two of the hangers from the closet that have clips on them, to clip the curtains closed. If they have such hangers. I hope you had some cold remedy with you or were able to get some. No fun feeling tough on vacation. Your new camera is very clear. Unfortunately there was some very harsh lighting at times! I hope you enjoyed the rest of the trip despite the cold/flu. I am afraid big cities are not my fave thing. A few of those venues seemed very noisy. Be well!

I usually feel poorly on return from a holiday especially if a flight is involved. People want to know how the holiday went when all I want to do is curl up and sleep. Is it because I normally live quite a quiet life then probably overdo it on holiday. You have been running since you left home, early then. . Just relax for a couple of days on the ship. But we don't do we as we don't want to miss a thing? 13:59 😂 What I remember of my trip to American bars is instead of the music drowning out the conversation it was generally the other way round.

When you said you were going to Macy's, I thought to myself "oooh I wonder if they still have the rickety wooden escalators".... and ta dah..... they do 😂. It was what struck me when I visited in 2000, couldn't get over that they had wooden escalators. It's the little things and my random brain 😂😂. Hope you're feeling better for the next leg of your holiday and that you're able to fully enjoy it.

Pegs or a skirt coat-hanger can help with keeping curtains together. Sorry your not well starting your holiday, happened to me too.

Annoyingly, it was the side of the curtains where they met the wall, rather than the middle, I did manage to improve it a bit the final night but it was very annoying

Re the curtains not meeting Caroline, bring a few clothes pegs in your case and try closing the curtains with them .

Hi caroline i dnt know if youve seen whats going on here we are in southampton THE GENERAL HOSPITAL has severe noraviris & covid/& flue all the staff are wearing masks again their not excepting anyone at A&E unless its life threatning. ALSO hundreds people without any water even the general hospital had no water they put on website all the post codes that are afected yet their putting the water bills up nxt yr hope yr injoying yr self sorry bout yr throat xxx
