Original video is on newsreels.net/... and thanks to my friend redrobinz for sending this to me in dms! I added the audio on the video, the original was silent. I matched up each scene with the audio.

The 1940s scene is so much better with the dad on the stool, rather than behind the table. I’ll never understand why they changed it

I think he was actually behind the table in the original World's Fair version. Plus, I think showing him holding a sandwich through the whole act looked a little silly.

Absolutely love this ... would like to see the whole uncut version.. I worked at Disneyland from 90 to 98 and America sings was my favorite so I took every opportunity to go into the carousel theater and explore.. it is hard to find pictures of the actual building/theater..lots of the show but the building itself is hard to find .. this has some very good scenes of the exterior while moving as well as the inside and the operator and control panel ... I notice several differences between these opening pictures and when it closed .. the operator originally had no chair and was standing... on the operator panel the light at the end was a time warning light and was operational in this video and can be seen blinking in the second shot of the ride operator.. the time warning light was obsolete and disabled for America sings .. also noticed there is no ramp at the entrance doors to the theater and people had to step up .. I can see that being a trip hazard and why they installed a ramp ... also of no particular useful information is the theater car they are going In is car number 1 .. it is the only car to have a wooden folding accordein doors along the left wall .. behind the wooden folding doors was a general electric speed variator that controlled the movement of the building... it was by far the nicest and well designed theater out of all three with the best of materials used ... it was a very sad lose of Disneyland history when it was destroyed to put in junk ... there will never be such a nice theater built again..

Excellent job of synchronizing! You can only wonder if the entire attraction was shot by Hearst before being edited down and if somehow that extra footage is still extant.

I've always wondered why the Disneyland version went the opposite direction of the Disney World version
@definingdisney Жыл бұрын
Well Disneyland’s actually went the correct direction. Disneyland’s was built to rotate clockwise, when it was moved to WDW it was set to rotate counterclockwise for some reason. When America Sings opened in Disneyland, it was also set to rotate counterclockwise too. For what reason? Not sure.
@mjb6991 Жыл бұрын
@@definingdisney I always thought they reversed the direction to make it appear that time was moving "forward" since it's rotating to the right instead of the left.

@@definingdisney If I had to guess it’s because most people read left to right.

The direction of the building was changed because of the location of unload .. what was unload for America sings was act 1 for carousel of progress... if the left the direction the same they would have to move everything from the load area to the empty act one area of c of p and then make the original load area unload .. rather than move the load area they reversed the direction and the empty area off act one became unload ... that reversing of the direction caused an unsafe situation for the ride operator which they learned the hard way ... an easy fix to that problem would have been simply to put the control panels on the opposite wall .. but they did not foresee the direction or panel location as hazard unfortunately..

@@Carousel-theater Did America Sings use the same room for load/unload? Or two identical, but separate rooms like Carousel did?

This was the year that The Jungle Book was released to movie theatres and became one of the studio's most successful movies.

I’m still curious how much of the technology in the attraction today is original. Is the ride still operating on magnetic tape drives?
@RobBaldridge2 ай бұрын
I've always wondered about this as well. I imagine most of the original 60's tech is long long gone. Wouldn't surprise me if they ran the whole show off of a Raspberry Pi now. 😂
@mjb6991Ай бұрын
No. Now it uses server racks to control everything.

Yeah, the order of attractions in that building go: Carousel of Progress - America Sings - Innoventions - Star Wars Launch Bay
