The Disneyland Carousel of Progress as you've never seen it before (unless you were alive when it was still there)!

Special thanks to @Carousel_Kid, @MrRegalMasquerade, @Memethyst, @WilliamDurvale, and @Boy_of_the_Cones for helping me find pictures and for giving advice on how to edit the audio. Your help allowed this recreation to be possible.

I was there and lived it back in the day. This was one of the most feel good about life, feel good about yourself, and feel good about the future there was for a young, wide eyed kid in California. This recreation is the closest and best I can find of that memory. Such good vibes and optimism about what the future held for all of us. How sad the reality is of what came to be.

Such a unique attraction. My favorite part was actually the upstairs portion. I can see why Walt Disney spent his last years trying to create something like that for real. It isn't very practical, but what an amazing idea that spawns so many more ideas!

Last seen by me in 1973 in Disneyland, & looking forward to my first WDW trip in 2022. My grandma took me to Disneyland every year when I was a kid, and this was def one of her favorite attractions. (The cringey mother stuff was just real felt stuff to her then. That’s history folks.) Almost 50 years later I’d love to see it again in memory of my lovely grandma. Ahhh, nostalgia. But oh it’s not the same at this point, so thx for the vlog, it’s super great to experience the almost past vicariously.

I cannot tell you how wonderful it was to see the last act and the post show. I was lucky to frequent Disneyland during these years. I think COP was a free attraction as was Adventure Thru Inner Space. Tomorrowland at that time was compelling and inspiring. I recall walking down Main Street in the morning, towards the hub and the majority of people would make a sharp right into Tomorrowland.

Thank you! I unfortunately was never able to see it, which is why I created this. I'm glad it holds up well enough that someone who actually saw it approves! I must ask since you said you saw this attraction, although since you were 12 I'm not sure if you'd remember or not. Either way, do you remember if the unload portion had its own rendition of 'Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow' like the current one does?

@@carouselofprogressrecreati2445 perhaps i can help with this. first off, wow !! 10 ten times over. i was 10 in 1967 when i first went on this attraction at disneyland and i fell in love with it instantly. as far as the unload potion : there was a type of escalator called speed ramp that took you up to progress city. the music in the background as you went up the ramp was the theme of “it’s a great big beautiful...” in the form of a souza-like marching band. hope this helps and thank you again for giving me such a enjoyable memory of my youth.

i was holding back tears for most of this video. i'm 63 years old and 1967 tomorrowland is a very fond memory for me. we would usually take the monorail into the park,so tomorrowland was what we would see first. it wasn't until my teens that i started going in the main entrance. seeing the peoplemover, skyway and all the rest of tomorrowland at the beginning of this video was a window into my past. we always rode the carousel of progress, and as a 6 year old i was fascinated by the story it told. if disney wants to do the right thing they will dust off the blueprints of the '67 tomorrowland and rebuild it as it was...the way walt envisioned it. anything else is a waste of time and money in my opinion.

@@carouselofprogressrecreati2445 So basically by this footage, you do prefer Carousel of Progress at Disneyland and not America Sings, I'd rather Prefer Carousel of Progress at Disney World like it is today, but have the same kind of building they have at Disneyland, a curved ramp up to the second level to see the Progress City Model, and have the Peoplemover also go through it.

The ramp to the second floor at Disneyland was the exit from the Progress City model. The audience exited the theaters via the last stage, up a speed ramp to Progress City. It was amazing. It was just the best attraction, with the Rex Allen narration. Hoping they give it a major update at Magic Kingdom. Needs a new last scene, and restore the 1967 final scene as the second to last scene. 1967 Tomorrowland at Disneyland was such a perfect execution of the concept, unlike the half-abandoned mess it is today.
