They put dye in it to minimise the weed growth.

When you’re posing with your fish mate, you should try holding them under their first pectoral fin rather than directly under their heads. You’ll get much better shots that way. Love Carpvale Doubles by the way, fished it many times over the years. I’ve had a 23.2lb mirror and a 31.5lb catfish. There’s around 180 fish in the lake, roughly 60 of which are Catfish. I know for a fact there’s plenty of Moggy’s well over 40lb in there and there was a huge catfish put in there a few years back from a local day fishery which went in around 60-70lb. That could’ve gained a good amount more in the few years it’s been in here. Never been caught since going in I believe 👀

Thanks for the tip mate. Carpvale, (Malton Lakes now) is a stunning fishery. We've had some good cats out, best just shy of 40lb, just not on this occasion. A 70+ will take some stopping in there.

Cheers pal. I used about a 9inch long KD rig tied up with Korda N-Trap 20lb, last couple of inches stripoed back. Hook was a size 4 Korda Krank. A large maggot clip was tied onto the hair. Leads were inline 2oz, mainline was 16lb ulitma flourocarbon coated to a size 8 quick change swivel.

Nice video. Helpful info before our 72 hr session last week. Absolutely beautiful surroundings. However, there is a huge difference in the lake quality today (mid September) compared to the images on this video. Half of the lake is unfishable. Weed has well and truly taken over it. Re-watching this again has amazed me looking at how clear it looks on here compared to what we experienced. In honesty, we were disappointed by the state of the lake. In a matter of 3 months from this video being shot, its a completely different water altogether. No doubt it will change in the winter and it will all die down.

Yes it does suffer from weed, I know some lads who went week after us and they said it was really bad then. I saw a post that said they'd cleared loads out as well but it must have come back with a vengeance in the warm weather we've had recently. I usually go in may or early June before the rivers open and it's normally quite clear. I have been in October just before they close for winter and it's been ok as well. Hope you managed some fish despite the disappointing state of the lake.

Yes, I managed a 29lb catfish with 2 others that were lost due to the sheer power of them and my end tackle not being up to the job. One quick link swivel snapped. Would go back again but not in summer.

Well done. Biggest cat in there I know of is 40lb, might have packed a bit more weight on now though.

@@HOOKEDFishingChannelhey I know this was 3 years ago but my brother got a 47lb cat in here 🎣

Nice fish. Some lads I know went a month or so back and said it was going downhill since the new owners took over, very weedy, that said they both got smashed off on 15lb line so those cats are definitely putting weight on. The biggest one that had ever been out at the time of filming was just 40lb.
