A guy in my local FB carp group makes those ringed slip sinkers from a mold. I got a couple from him last year and gave them a try and they do work really well and hold the pack bait good. I tend to use a more dense pack bait that doesn't disolve so fast because I'm always fishing in current in the river, and those spring feeders hold on to the bait just a little too good I sometimes have to dig it out with a stick before I leave. The way I use pack baits I want the pack bait to dissolve really slow and let the current in the river drift the scent downstream drawing the fish to the area. Those ribbed slip sinkers hold my pack bait on just right. Only complaint I have about them is 3 oz just a bit too big for me and ended up sawing off and smoothing one of the ends.

It's a hot vacation spot in the region, and 99% of the shoreline is resorts or private lake houses. The other 1% is steep cliffs. It's a raging torrent of pleasure boats and jet skis all summer long, party central. I avoid that place like the plague. I'm sure there are big fish in there though. Congrats on your December carp!

They look so skinny compared to the chubby ones I've been getting at the Potomac... the ones in this video are long tho. I've been using my only good rod (15lbs bass rod) so i haven't been able to get a big one but soon i might complete a cheap 30lb rig and go after the big ones
