Burghfield Blue Pool has gained a reputation for being a prolific exclusive booking water holding some huge carp up to 40lb and some absolutely stunning fish. I head to the famous venue on a carp fishing social trip with some of the Richworth Baits guys. Great video as always mate, if you wanted to use different size baits on a fixed hair could you not use an extender stop?

Darryl Clarkson cheers mate. I have used them in the past but they can’t make the hair any size you want. With this rig I could fish a single grain of fake corn or a double 20mm bait and it would work. With a hair you’re more limited. 👍

Hi Mate, Why didn't you use your spoon to place the baits. The left hand rod you could of waded out and put your bare lead into swim 11. Go round and pick it up, or better still put a single rod in there. Great PB though fella, lets hope you get a few Frenchies an all ;-)

Chris Whitehall hi mate. The water slopes off quickly round to the right there so wading round wasn’t possible. Also if I’d had a single in there I would be away from the rod and loose all my fish in the snags. Fishing from the next swim gave me a better line angle to pull them out of danger 👍

glenn Chuckle cheers for your comment mate. I use backloads wherever possible mate. Not for snag fishing as you need your line direct to the lead but anywhere I can get away with it I use them mainly keep the line out the way when playing fish 👍

Great vid Simon, congrats on 4000 subs, i have watched your channel evolve since the start and you are becoming somewhat of an authority with the instructional content. On balance, and whilst everyone is a genius with hindsight, it was bad angling to be so close to a snag, locked up and you being 10 yards away from your swim. If the island was only 20 yards away, even a low stretch mono will stretch 10%, a hooked carp will go a couple yards in seconds and that's easily enough to have a tethered blue pool carp 🤔.

What a nice Sunday morning treat, a Simon Dew Video! Congratulations on your new PB, top angling buddy. I'm having a tough spell of blanking at the moment, on a new very weedy water. Whilst my confidence is a tad low at present, I sit there and think "what would Simon do?' then I push on again tweaking little bits and not fearing failing. I'm just getting ready for a 48hr session later, full of optimism, so let's go do it! Any chance in the future you could possibly do a vid, looking at fishing weedy waters and what you do when your confidence is low and you start questioning everything?
